Handbook of Abusable Drugs1 review
Kenneth Blum

Gardner Pr, 1992

Exceptionally well written
I found this to be a very well written reference on neuro-pharmacology. For every major drug and many minor ones, I found a physiological and biochemical review of the drugs, along with its effect on the street. I would recomend this book to anyone working in the field of neoropharmacology that needs a quick reference to an unfamiliar drug.

Avery Robert Cardinal Dulles, Ralph Martin, ...

Ignatius Press, 1995

Catholics and Evangelization, Past, Present, and Future
This work is an updated version of papers presented at a 1994 "new evangelization" conference that grew out of an article by Fr. Avery Dulles (now a cardinal). Dulles, who was the keynote speaker, and other presenters addressed efforts of Vatican II participants and Popes Paul VI and John Paul II to clarify the call for Christian evangelization. The 23 articles are grouped under six headings: ...

Alcohol and the Addictive Brain2 reviews
Kenneth Blum

Free Press, 1991

At last a methodologically rigorous study of alcoholism
I first acquired this book shortly after it was published in 1991, and I have now been continuously sober for over eleven years. The hypothesis that alcoholism is an empirically identifiable neurochemical imbalance in the brain is still met with strong resistance by drunks, moralists and many therapists. Unfortunately for these sometimes vocal critics, Blum and Payne present compelling ...

The National Experience: A History of the United States7 reviews
John M. Blum, William S. McFeely, ...

Wadsworth Publishing, 1993

AP US History
I'm a sophmore in high school and I'm taking the Advanced Placement US History course. The book provides so much insight into the past; politially and socially, and gives first hand accounts and documents of the time periods. It is also a very helpful textbook when it comes to taking the AP test.

Peter Blum Edition, 2004

"Over the last four decades, David Rabinowitch has made significant contributions to the field of sculpture. Rabinowitch ceased painting in 1962, having transitioned to the medium of sculpture in 1960 after exposure to the work of fellow artist David Smith. The 100 woodblock monotypes he created in 1962, shown here for the first time, represent the work of the artist at the very point that his first sculptural works were being formulated. They ...

Overload: Attention Deficit Disorder and the Addictive Brain3 reviews
David K. Miller, Kenneth Blum

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1996

This Book Was Really Ahead Of It's Time!!
It was sad for me to see that this book is currently out of print. I am researching the connection between alcoholism and ADD. This book is revolutionary but due to the fact that it was published several years ago - I feel that it did not recieve the attention that it deserved. There is much new research regarding this disorder especially concerning the adult population that this book if had ...

Handbook of Psychiatric Genetics
Kenneth Blum, Ernest P. Noble

CRC-Press, 1996

Psychiatric genetics is an exciting new discipline that explores how our minds and behavior are influenced by our genes. Increased interest in this area of medical genetics has been sparked by advances in molecular genetic techniques, the genome project, the neurosciences, the role of genes in somatic diseases, and the linking of specific genes with complex mental disorders. This Handbook is the definitive resource on this complex, and sometimes ...
