Henry Moore's Sheep Sketchbook1 review
Henry Moore, Kenneth Clark

Thames & Hudson, 1998

This is his actual sketchbook of his very own sheep.
This book is one of the most helpful sources to understanding and looking at Henry Moore's world, work and learning his regard for the objects of reality he transformed into his sculptures. It is truly amazing and it is the actual sketchbook of his very own sheep. It is a wonderful book.

Civilization10 reviews
Kenneth Clark

Harper, 1969

A treasure of a book
If I had to chose 5 books for eternity, this would be one. I first read it as a recent college grad when it was published in the early '70's. It helped estabish my view of western civilization and art. I have scoured used book stores for copies to give to others and I am pleased it is again available. I treasure this volume and would be lost without it.

Kenneth Clark

Princeton University Press, 1972

Kudos to Amazon.com for keeping an important book available!
THE NUDE: A STUDY IN IDEAL FORM, a classic investigation and summation, is one of scholar/historian Kenneth Clark's finest works - and that is high powered praise in view of all of his contributions to literature. Few writers inform with such dignity of prose, style, and warmth as Clark and THE NUDE is no exception. This handsome and illuminating volume dates back to 1953 and is based on six ...

Leonardo da Vinci: Revised Edition8 reviews
Kenneth Clark

Penguin (Non-Classics), 1989

The best introduction to Leonardo & a compelling read
Kenneth Clark's book is probably the best available introduction to Leonardo da Vinci. It is both a good biography and an insightful analysis of Leonardo's art and artistic career. The text is appropriate for both laymen and students of art history. Clark's writing is concise and extremely engaging (to the point where I would recommend reading this book for fun), but it is also intelligent and ...

The impulses, ideas discoveries and beliefs which have formed and nurtured Western civilisation since the collapse of the Classical World are most powerfully revealed - and most readily accessible - in its works of art, its buildings, books and great individuals. That is why in this remarkable volume, in which hundreds of carefully selected illustrations underscore the meaning of the text, ...
