Here is the companion volume to Ken Cope's previous works on machine tools, carriage making machinery and cooperage machinery. Factories filled with the machinery described in the previous works, from the smallest drill presses to giant planers, could not have existed without a reliable and sufficient power source. The perfect resource
Kenneth L. Cope has really outdone himself with this edition. The entire book has been revamped and reorganized, and it also includes MANY new entries. What Cope has presented us is a fascinating look into the history of this excellent tool and how it has technically advanced over the years. I was really impressed by the accuracy of which Cope dates each model. He doesn't simply include when ...

The wrench persons book.
If you like wrenchs, this is the book for you. While it does not get into the prices/values of any given wrench, it does have LOTS of great ads and history. It adds to the fun of collecting these great tools. A very well put together book that is a must have for the wrench/old tool collector.

American Cooperage Machinery and Tools
The book is informative on all the makers of cooperage tools but I was looking for tool drawings with dimensions to reconstruct some for making wood pales. I may be able to reverse engineer some from the pictures and process of construction. Thanks

Carriage and Wagon Makers' Machinery and Tools
Kenneth L. Cope
Astragal Press

Here again is one of Ken Cope's major reference works on the history of technological innovation. The use of machinery to replace hand tools began earlier in carriage and wagon building than in other 19th century trades, and lasted longer. It was primarily concerned with wheelmaking, one of the most intricate and time-consuming tasks of the carriage builder. Mr. Cope continues his series with an alphabetic listing of the inventors and ...
