Getting Fit.....This worked for me
A lawyer friend challenged me to take the fitness test by seeing how far I could run/walk in 12 minutes. I just scraped into the 'poor' category He gave me my original copy of Kenneth Coopers, 'Aerobics'which I passed around friends and yes, I lost track of it and have since obtained another copy through Amazon. I selected the running program which I discovered to be so accurate in estimating ...

Excellent follow up
The greatest thing about this sequel to Aerobics is that the running segment is broken down to the 1/10th of a mile. Very thoughtful.

Great book on Cholesterol
This is an excellent book on the subject of how to control cholesterol. The book is clearly written and it thoroughly explains the mechanism of cholesterol metabolism to the layman. The various case studies are great too. The only criticism I have for the book is that it is not up to date in the latest treatments for high cholesterol.

Still the best "no-fad" system!
Nutripoints remains my favorite book on healthy eating. Nutripoints is a "no-fad" system based on straight science and facts. Using a proprietary grading system, foods are assigned a numerical score based on nutritional qualities, taking into account both positive and negative factors. The higher the Nutripoint score, the better the food choice. Unlike some nutritional programs, where you are ...

Excellent resource for the budding fitness enthusiast
This is the first book by Cooper that I read. And it is an excellent resource for the person wanting to get into shape. Cooper presents all the information one needs to get started and stay motivated. What makes this book unique is the Christian orientation Cooper gives to fitness. He states, "... the belief required for a `fitness conversion' involves a conviction about your body and health that ...

For people with kids over 9
I had great expectations for this book. I respect Dr Cooper and his work. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the book. There are 115 pages of nutriton related information mostly suggested menus and recipes - there are lots of good nutrition books for kids. The fitness evaluations were mostly for kids 10 and older. He recommends an active lifestyle and sports, but that's not worth the ...

The first...
This book is excellent. 40 years old, but excellent. It is presented in a logical, easy to understand format. The information in the book is based on research that Doctor Cooper did as an Air Force doc in Texas. While giving "aerobic points" to a variety of exercises and sports, Dr. Cooper presents to the reader that jogging/running is the simplest, most effective way, to improve your ...

A Worthy Read, Indeed
Dr. Cooper has made and continues to make an incredible contribution to the collective body of intelligence on health and aging. It's just too bad so many adults choose to ignore his scientifically proven prescription for longevity and health. He's the "Father of Aerobics", but his true legacy will be the contribution he's making now for the next generation of Americans - our children - who ...

A great introduction to "functional foods"
For over 30 years, Dr. Ken Cooper has been a trusted source for insights into health, exercise, and heart disease. Despite its release in 1999, Dr. Cooper's book remains a persuasive and detailed introduction to the use of so-called "functional foods" and "nutriceuticals" to lower cholesterol. These included stanol/sterol esters in butter substitutes, soy products, Phytrol, and oat bran. If you ...
