, ...
Thomson Custom Publishing
, 2003
Regulation and Consumer Protection, 4e is intended to document the scope and coverage of regulation and consumer protection in the United States. To provide some coherence, the authors provide a conceptual framework that essentially combines the viewpoints of those who feel regulatory policies are determined by the social and economic environment and those who feel that bureaucracies are permitted the freedom to set policies without restriction. ...

Great read for researchers and those into public policy
Meier examines something that very few in the policy studies field focus on - policy outcomes, not just outputs. Meier's main examination focuses on a very interesting debate surrounding drug use and alcohol regulation. It is his style and method, however, of examining the issues that may prove beneficial to researchers. He includes case studies along with analysis so that the reading does ...

Good examples pertaining to public administration.
This text provides good examples of statistical problems pertaining to public administration. However, the text does not do a good job in explaining how to use certain statistical tools to solve problems(e.g. chi-square). In addition, some of the statistical tables are confusing for students.

Reinventing the Presidency
Kenneth J. Meier
Chatham House Publishers

And, if the current presidency has limitations and restrictions, how should the institution be redesigned? Focusing on the four key ...
