Accounting: Texts and Cases5 reviews
Robert Anthony, David Hawkins, ...

McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 2006

Not difficult but detailed.
This is a very advanced begining accounting text used by Harvard University in its accounting courses. It combines both Financial and Management Accounting and it is extremely detailed. Their are no solutions in the tests for their very difficult problems and I have not found a study guide to accompany it thus far. Do not buy it if you are not familiar with accounting. This is a textbook.

Crime Novels: American Noir of the 1930s and 40s: The Postman Always Rings Twice / They Shoot Horses, Don't ...13 reviews
Horace McCoy, Kenneth Fearing, ...

Library of America, 1997

Thank God for the 1930's and 1940's/
First of all, the Library Of America collection provides the reader with some of the most beautiful hardcover editions available today. That said, the selections chosesn for this edition are all first class; for someone just getting into hard-boiled fiction, this is the ideal place to start. If you're like me and have been reading this genre for many years, this is a perfect volume to add to ...

The Almanac of New York City

Columbia University Press, 2008

The Almanac of New York City is an innovative companion for urban enthusiasts. Nowhere else will you find the name of the city's first comptroller (Selah Strong) and Staten Island's most recently designated historic district (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Grotto) next to the city's best-attended cultural institution (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, with five million visitors annually) and its lowest recorded temperature (15 degrees below zero in ...

The Wind in the Willows4 reviews
Kenneth Grahame

Palazzo Editions, 2008

Excellent Illustrations
My only exposure to Wind In the Willows was from the Disney film, which left vivid pictures in my memory. The book did not disappoint those memories, but reinforced them; the illustrations adding not a little to the experience, no doubt contributing to this. This will be a fine window-seat book for my grand children. Magic!

Arundel30 reviews
Kenneth Roberts

Down East Books, 1995

Roberts at his Best
Wow! This book was absolutely amazing! It was so good, that I had to put it down for a while, go and do something else while I let it digest. Wonderful stuff. After a bumpy start -with a rather mushy love scene between the 10 year old Mary Mallinson and Steven Nason- the book really gets into gear - with a real bang. Literally. A rude Frenchman and his Indian cronies shoots Mary's dad, ...

Rabble in Arms29 reviews
Kenneth Roberts

Down East Books, 1996

Great read, but there is a "However"
I thoroughly enjoyed "Rabble in Arms" and its sister novel, "Arundel." The characters come alive, there is much to learn about the Revolution, and I for one enjoyed Roberts' occasional meditations on the nature of war and the pros and cons of certain historical figures. I won't detail the contents of the book because others have done that already on this site, but will say that no one can read ...

The Warren Buffett Way86 reviews

Wiley, 1994

This Way is Compatible with His Way
Book review of The Warren Buffett Way As I have been exploring economics from a variety of perspectives, it seemed only natural to read a book about one of the greatest investors of our time. I was pleasantly surprised by this book to learn that investing well was a rational and intelligent process and not just random chance. Obviously, there are those who dispute that statement but I ...

Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond12 reviews

Zondervan, 1999

Counterpoint Series
I'm going to apply this commentary for the entire Counterpoint Series published by Zondervan Publishing Company. My compliments to that company for creating this series. I initially purchased "Four Views on the Book of Revelation" but soon realized it was only one in a series. I got so much out of that volume, that I decided to purchase the entire set to study and keep for reference. My ...

Daniel and the Minor Prophets1 review

Zondervan, 1985

Review of set, not specific volume
Let me start by saying that I have owned the full 12-volume set for about a year and use it quite frequently as a resource. To be fair, I have yet to use this particular volume. However, as there seem to be no competent reviews on the set as a whole, I did want to add my impressions of this terrific resource. I can say that I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the 12 volumes in this set. ...

20 Compelling Evidences That God Exists: Discover Why Believing In God Makes So Much Sense7 reviews
Kenneth D. Boa, Robert M., Jr. Bowman

David C. Cook, 2005

Grips your interest and provides ammunition for the beleaguered Christian
Just as its title says, 20 Compelling Evidences takes a deep look at how we can know for sure that God exists. The Foreword is an interesting discussion about our relevant doubts and how to find answers for them. Then the evidences begin. Commencing with reality, knowledge, and existence, the authors reach outward to the Universe, life's origins, and a fallen world, and then take a hard look at ...

Hematology in Clinical Practice1 review
Robert Hillman, Kenneth Ault, ...

McGraw-Hill Professional, 2005

if you work for hematology, must buy!
If you work for hematology, this book is so nice to learn the basic line. I think the way of learning the basic line is the most important part for the medical students and residents. Of course, you must learn the latest things more with the internet. Sometimes this book is not enough for you, but with internet, it is quite enough.

Boon Island: Including Contemporary Accounts of the Wreck of the *Nottingham Galley*3 reviews
Kenneth Roberts

UPNE, 1995

a good book
This is a must read book for those of you who like historical novels. It is about a ship that has wrecked on an island off the coast of Maine and how the crew survives. This book is written with the historical preciseness that Arundel and Northwest Passage are written with. This is one of the greatest historical novels

Physics, Volume 214 reviews
David Halliday, Robert Resnick, ...

Wiley, 2001

Excellent reference book for introductory physics courses
Being a freshmen of physics major in the first year of my university life, I engaged in three introductory physics courses, namely, mechanics, thermodynamics and optics, and electricity and magnetism. It was a surprise to me that all three courses recommended "Physics" by Resnick and Halliday as textbook. After one year of study, I found reading this book awarding and useful for my later and more ...

Faith Has Its Reasons: An Integrative Approach to Defending Christianity12 reviews
Kenneth D. Boa, Robert M. Bowman Jr.

Paternoster, 2006

For What it Does, it is the best Contemporary Work in Print
Boa and Bowman have put together a lengthy survey on apologetic methods within Christianity. In the process, they have surpassed all other comparative apologetic works by cogently and thoroughly examining apologetic methods and the great thinkers who have subscribed to the various methods. This book is extremely useful for a number of reasons. It's obvious strength is its thorough treatment of ...

Sense and Nonsense about Heaven and Hell (Sense and Nonsense)1 review
Kenneth Boa, Robert M. Bowman Jr.

Zondervan, 2007

They convinced me.
I am a conservative Christian who did his own study on the Biblical view of Hell. I had come to the tentative conclusion that Jesus taught a certain type of Annihilationism (specifically, that those not forgiven of their sins by Jesus went to Hell for a finite period of time, the length dependant upon the severity of their sins, and then simply ceased to exist). I had read multiple books on the ...
