not yer toddler's turtles
I can't tell if the other "pop-up" review is an excellent joke, or a stupid mistake. In either case, do a little googling on Kevin Eastman's Bodycount and you'll find that the only things "popping out" in this book are bad guys' eyeballs and babe's bazungas... aka NOT for kids 3 - 6. The book is a completely different take on the turtles, presented in a hyper-violent, hyper-sexualized style. ...

A Favorite
This is my favorite out of the four First Graphic Novels. That's because it has such variety! One second the mutant heroes are out saving a medieval world along with Cerberus and a bumbling Renee; the next, they're helping Master Splinter as he awakens the ancient samurai spirit in a young man. The art is much more enjoyable this time around. I especially love it in the final story, when ...

Pretty good!
This graphic novel is a reprint of several old issues of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and was the basis for the first TMNT movie. If you've seen the movie, you'll know how a lot of this goes - one of the turtles is ambushed (though here it is Leo, where in the movie it was Raph) and April's apartment gets trashed, and the Turtles head off into the country to at an old, dilapidated home (this ...

Good but not Great for the price.
This book needs to be printed again. It's good, but not great for the amount this book is going for by sellers.

Bizarre, Good Fun
My cousin gave books 1 and 3 to me when I was 8 and I ate them up. I had far more fun with this collection of the original TMNT comics than I did with the kid-friendly, chubby-cheeked, pizza-loving bunch on TV. These Turtles have a lot more to lose than their cartoon counterparts. The art is not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. The lineart is so darn thick it could stop a ...

The real Turtles
I grew up loving the old cartoon, but as I grew, I found myself not liking it anymore. Then someone told me to get my hands on the original books. I am so thankful to him that I did. This was a great read. Adult, with a little humor thrown in. A must for any turtle fan. And here's hoping the new movie reflects these stories.

This is the first in a series of one-shots featuring the individual turtles. These are from the earliest days of the series. The format is larger than the average comic.
