Winnie the Witch9 reviews
Valerie Thomas

HarperCollins, 2007

Bright colourful with a lot to look at.
This is, I think very much more for a child from 2-4 than anything else. The language is simple as are the concepts. It is very good humoured and beautifully illustrated. This is a book my 2 and 4 year old love to look at. There are quite complicated illustrations of Winnies house which is a large castle - it is all in black. The problem is that Winnie's cat is also black, she can see the cat ...

Winnie at The Seaside
Valerie Thomas, Korky Paul

Oxford University Press, 2005

Winnie decides she needs a seaside break, so she and Wilbur zoom off to the coast. Winnie makes a beeline for the sea to cool down. Wilbur makes a beeline for anywhere other than the sea - he hates water, and can't bear getting wet. To avoid all the other, numerous, holiday-makers, Winnie puts down her towel, and sets up her beach umbrella, further down than the beach than anyone else - and clearly below the tide line. Of course, the tide ...

Winnie the Witch Collection: Three Books in One (Winnie the Witch)1 review
Valerie Thomas, Korky Paul

Oxford University Press, 2004

Wow!
Love love love this book! It's a simple story w/a quirky main character & loveable cat. Great illustrations with details. Can be used to teach the concept of camouflage for animals. I read it in my kindergarten class each year & my students always want to hear it again & again. Great present for a child especially a girl.

Happy Birthday Winnie1 review
Valerie Thomas

Oxford University Press, 2008

Winnie!
Winnie is a favorite with my 4 year old. The fold-out birthday cake in the middle she loves. The detail in the illustration fascinates her and the words are a pleasure for me to read, meaning that the author knows how to make a readable sentence, unlike many other children's books (Chris Van Allsburg & Jan Brett amongst them) who would be better off hiring a writer to structure a read-aloud ...

Sanji and the Baker7 reviews
Robin Tzannes

Oxford University Press, 2008

We love this book
My wife and I just had our first baby 3 weeks ago. We were given this book as a baby gift. It is a wonderfully written book with charming, detailed illustrations. The ending is clever and surprising and illustrates that some of the best things in life are free. I would also recommend it as a lesson in cultural diversity.

Winnie's Midnight Dragon2 reviews
Valerie Thomas

HarperCollins, 2008

Abracadabra!
This book is adorable! Winnie and her cat Wilbur have an adventure just after midnight when a baby dragon arrives at their house. My 3-year old has been running around for days saying "Abracadabra!" The illustrations are excellent, whimsical, and very rich, and it's as much fun for grown ups to read as for the little ones.

Whizz-bang Winnie (Winnie the Witch)
Laura Owen

Winnie the Witch. Story Book / Activity Book. (Lernmaterialien)1 review
Korky Paul, Valerie Thomas, ...

Cornelsen, Berlin, 1995

Anarchic and great fun
As an owner of many black cats in the past, I could certainly identify with Winnie's problem. I've taken many a nasty fall due to black cats lurking on dark stairs. Her attempts to solve the problem by first changing Wilbur's colour are beautifully and wittily illustrated and guaranteed to raise a smile. The cat's bemusement and embarassment at his new colouring is also spot on. Winnie ...

The Fish Who Could Wish2 reviews
John Bush

Kane/Miller Book Pub, 1994

Great fun to share!
This is a great story to share and read aloud. The rhyme scheme flows easily, and the illustrations are just as silly as the text. The kids in my storyhour have loved it as well as the adults. Boy, that is one foolish fish!

Winnie Flies Again4 reviews
Korky Paul

Kane/Miller Book Publishers, 2000

A Wickedly Funny Story
This book is so hilarious, even as an adult I found myself laughing out loud to Winnie the witch's antics. I plan on reading this book to my kindergarteners around Halloween time. I can't wait to see their reaction!

Monster Poems
John Foster, Korky Paul

Oxford University Press, USA, 2004

This is a collection of poems about one of children's favourite subjects - monsters. Korky Paul's lively illustrations to life this popular poetry book. John Foster and Korky Paul's poetry partnership began over 10 years ago, with the publication of "Dragon Poems". The combination of John's inspired and witty selection of poems, with Korky's crazily imaginative and anarchic illustrations, has proved exceptionally popular. "If this combination of ...

Dragon Poems2 reviews
John Foster, Korky Paul

Oxford University Press, USA, 2004

Great for all lovers of poetry or dragons!
I'm an adult but I collect children's books. Why? Because of books like this one. I love any collection of poetry of a theme, and this one is wonderful. I love poems, I love dragons, I love this book! I'm going to get several of them for Christmas gifts for both children and adults. The choice of poems is unbelievable. Who knew there were so many poems about dragons? And the illustrations ...

Dinosaur Poems1 review
John Foster, Korky Paul

Oxford University Press, USA, 2004

Got my non-reader to read
My 9 year-old son brought this book home from the library yesterday and was actually excited about reading, for the first time, ever. He read some of the poems to me and I found them to be really clever. We both got a chuckle out of what really happened to the dinosaurs.

The Grammar Lab: Bk.11 review
Kenna Bourke

Oxford University Press, 1999

The Grammar Lab
This book is really good for children who learn the basic English Grammar. It's easy to follow and easy to understand. The illustration is good and interesting, too. I recommend this book for those who wants to learn basic English. I like this book very much, because I learn a lot from this book, too.
