I'm a Big Sister! (Padded Large Learner)2 reviews
Ronne Randall

Parragon Publishing, 2005

Best "Big Sister" book out there...
My 2-year-old was given this book as a gift during my pregnancy. It is a great book for a little girl who is going to become a big sister. The story of Elie and her new (gender neutral) baby sibling is fun, and informative. I really felt that it helped prepare my daughter for what it would be like to have a baby around the house, and helped to give ideas for what she could do to be a good big ...

Time-for-Bed Angel, The1 review
Ronica Stromberg

Lion Books, 2008

Cute Book
This is a really cute bedtime story about a guardian angel and the busy boy he keeps watch over. My son and I both laughed at the comic pictures that go along with the text. I think other parents won't mind if the book becomes their child's favorite because it doesn't take long to read and is calming.

We're Moving (First-Time Stories)3 reviews
Heather Maisner, Kristina Stephenson

Kingfisher, 2004

great story for children facing a move
I bought this for my daughter when we were getting ready to move. It was very helpful since it brought up some items that I would not have thought about discussing otherwise (i.e. furniture not in place on arrival, etc.) We have been in our new home for well over a year now and my daughter still pulls out this book to be read at least once a month.

I'm a Big Brother (Padded Large Learner)2 reviews
Ronne Randall

Parragon Publishing, 2005

Great for young kids and parents - especially if you don't know baby's gender!
My friend gave this book to my then 2-year old. He immediately took to the book, as the activities that Big Brother Luke wanted to do with Baby are exactly the kinds of activities that my son liked (playing with trains and airplanes, going to the park, etc.). There are nice examples of how excited Luke is about Baby that any Big Brother could relate to ("Is baby ever going to be big enough to ...

I Am a Promise2 reviews
Gloria Gaither

Zonderkidz, 2002

Need more children CD's from the Gaither's
This is good stuff and comes from the tracks of an original LP that we all enjoyed growing up in the 70s but it is just as fresh today. The children's voices were so tight and polished, obviously due to the inspiration of Bill & Gloria Gaither and Gary McSpadden. Well, I had my chance when they came to Jacksonville-Fla a couple of years ago. While Mr Gaither was heading to his dressing room ...

Will You Be My Valenswine? (Albert Whitman Prairie Paperback)1 review
Teresa Bateman

Albert Whitman & Company, 2007

Will You Be My VALENSWINE?
Poor Polly feels rejected, because all her animal friends have sweethearts. Thus, Polly sets out in search for a valentine, but asks inanimate objects such as a rose bush, and her slop to be her valentine. Kids understand how silly it is to pose such questions to a rose, and to slop, so they laugh. The illustrations are soft and simply rendered with little details, but enough to get the point ...

I Love You Daddy (Padded Large Learner)1 review
Jillian Harker

Parragon Publishing, 2006

One of the sweetest!
One of the better ones to feature Daddy as the parent. Wonderful illustrations (one of my favorites is the cozy cave they found!) The little bear is spending the day with his father, who encourages the bear he CAN climb, get honey from the tree, find a place where they can sleep, etc. The little bear is so happy realizing what he's capable of, and feels love for his daddy all along the ...
