SNAKES!
Great art and a thrilling story. I admit I still hold a candle for the original Roy Thomas story that was my first introduction to the amazing world of Conan, but this version ROCKS, too!

What if you had Superman's Powers?
The first time I read this book I had borrowed it from the Library...Ohhh Maaaannnnn....what an amazing story!!! I couldn't put it down and at first I couldn't even comprehend the fullness of the story. It was this book that not only got me to read the "Astro City" series, but when I found out that Kurt Busiek was now writing the Superman Comics for DC...I started buying Superman Comics again ...

Superman plows himself, another earth's Superman and Superboy Prime
through a red sun and this is the story afterwards (I think that is the correct character placement from Infinite Crisis). If you've ever seen and liked Superman 2, the movie from the 80's, then you'll like this story. They are very similar in concept and the character traits that Superman takes on as a regular person without powers. Superman is torn between being as close to Lois as he has ...

This really is the first story-arc...
This book contains the first story arch of Astro City. In the previous issues, it was literally issue to issue, no to be continued endings, but this has it. The first arch shows the life of a 10 year old girl who is a super hero and struggles to cope with how she is different from normal girls. The second is of Jack In The Box (the dude on the cover) and how his pregnant wife will have a child ...

UNFINISHED HOWARD TALE
Robert E. Howard wrote a number of fantastic Conan stories in his lifetime but The Hall of the Dead was not one of them. Not that The Hall of the Dead isn't fantastic, but rather Howard didn't write it, at least not in full. Years after his suicide in 1936, numerous Howard material was found, which included a number of unpublished stories as well as various fragments and outlines for other ...

MARVELS-ous Masterpiece
How can I be objective: that's us in this four issue series that followed an everyman through WWII and into the beginning of the Marvel Universe circa 1970-something. Ross used many of his friends (and idols) as models in this magnificent tribute to the compendium of Marvel's greatest moments. MARVELS shows heroes at their best across three decades of great Marvel comics. Any aging fanboy ...

Conan Rules
The Art here is unbelievable, and the storytelling is excellent. I highly recommend this book, and this series. This is Conan, the way it should be told. The creators have made a beautiful and fitting tribute to one of the greatest fantasy characters of all-time. This is compelling, page turning adventure on the highest level.

Why didn't some body think of this sooner?
It seems like such an obvious good idea. It's a wonderful glimpse into the creative process. Just received it last night, and I'm already half through it. I haven't done that since I was eleven and got Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way. Not that this book has any similarity to that one. This is not a how to book. Its a more intimate, than any instructional book. Its a similar ...

Superior to "The Chronicles..." Buy it!
I have the first 3 in this series: The Frost Giant's Daughter And Other Stories, The God In The Bowl And Other Stories and The Tower Of The Elephant And Other Stories. I find the artwork to be superior to the "Chronicals of Conan", and there is always at least one original Howard tale included in these books. The "Other Stories" stand up very well to the Howard adventures. They are very much ...

Exceptional historical fantasy novel
The high concept is easy and powerful: what if World War 1 was fought with magic and not science. Oceanliners become powered by magic instead of steam, werewolves and vampires stalk the battelfields, and wizards concoct new more dangerous spells in a desperate attempt to gain advantage. Everything familiar becomes new. If that isn't enough, the writer and artist create a compelling ...

Look up in the sky! It's a bird ... no, it's a plane ...
I cannot seem to shake these stories. In each of the handful of Kurt Busiek's stories about a superhero infested city, I felt connected to the people surrounded by these modern marvels. I love stories that have a point of view away from the typical angle. One of my favorite films that I watched this year was one called The Baxter. It is a love story as told by the other man, the one dumped by ...
