Moishe's Miracle: A Hanukkah Story 4 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
Chronicle Books, 2005
A Celebration of Light! From the moment you pick this book up, you are drawn to the light! The light from the fires, the light from the candles, and the light that shines from Moishe's heart. Slonim's wonderful illustrations have taken this plain text and made it magical! Although this is a Hanukkah story it's message of generosity can be embraced by everyone. My only criticism, is how the white boxes that the text ...

Absolutely Magical!Winsome Story & Illustrations to Match The first time my daughter and I read "Little Oh" I knew we would need a copy of it in her personal library. Little Oh rates right up there with Mulan when it comes to stories for little girls.

Move over, Goodnight Moon! This is my favorite book to gift to new parents. Whether they've been blessed with a baby boy or girl, this is the perfect book to start off a life-time of reading. My other favorites are "Cookies Bite-Size Life Lessons" and "Jamberry"...there's just something so special about picture books, isn't there?

Fright Night Flight 13 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
HarperCollins, 2002
OUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN BOOK BY FAR... I have two children, ages five and two. My five year old LOVES Halloween, and has passed that interest along to his little sister. We buy many books during the Halloween season, and this is by far our favorite. We purchased this last year, and while there are some spookable characters, it is the only Halloween book that did NOT scare my two year old this year! She loves the wonderful rhymes ...

Everyone remembers the friendly beasts of the stable at Christmas but what of the creatures of field and forest? From her perch in the rafters a small bird's heart fills with love. The Rainbabies 17 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
HarperTrophy, 2004
I Read this with A Heavy Heart and Tears In My Eyes This is a wonderfully written book. A gorgeous story with beautiful illustrations. I gave this book as a gift to a friend of mine going through IVF. She loved the story of the Rainbabies and Mother Moonshower.
The Rainbabies is a delightful book about an older couple that have everything but the one thing that they desire more than anything in the world, a child. One night after a ...

This First Thanksgiving Day: A Counting Story 5 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
HarperTrophy, 2003
A beautiful Thanksgiving book to share with your child. I bought this book last year for my daughter who was two at the time. She loved this book so much that we have been reading it all year. This is a counting book with a Thanksgiving theme. The illustrations are so beautiful. It makes me miss New England in the fall. There are pictures of Native Americans and Pilgrims working and playing with their family and friends. This book was a great way ...

New York, New York!: The Big Apple from A to Z 2 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
Collins, 2008
Great "While you're visiting NYC guide" for young visitors I bought this book for a six year old visitor who has the reading skills of an 8 year old. She was visiting Manhattan and used this book as a guide for herself as we took in the sites. The illustrations are charming and she was able to read the text by herself. Nice guide for the child to read while here in NYC!

The First Song Ever Sung (A Picture Puffin Book) 3 reviews Laura Krauss Melmed
Puffin, 1995
A beautiful book! This is one of those picture books where the pictures don't just reflect the story, but add an extra dimension to it. The words are more poetry than prose, and the whole effect is stunning. Although in many ways very different from The Rainbabies (same author), the two books share a timeless, fairy-tale quality that brings tears to the eyes. I think I could read this one every day and never get ...

The Marvelous Market on Mermaid 1 review Laura Krauss Melmed
HarperCollins, 1996
Wonderful Book - we know it by heart The Marvelous Market on Mermaid is simply one of our favorite books - not only does our son (age 2) love the rhythm and rhyme of the story and the beautifully detailed illustrations, but my wife and I and our baby sitters love reading it as well. It is very easy to lapse into a sing-song like reading that moves you page to page - so much so that we found ourselves telling our son the story from ...
