When Dinosaurs Die: A Guide to Understanding Death (Dino Life Guides for Families)26 reviews
Laurie Krasny Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 1998

When Dinosaurs Die
This is an excellent book. I purchased it to read to my almost 4 year old grandson whose "grandpa" died 3 months ago. I particularly enjoyed the way the book starts out with - What Does Alive Mean? and then goes on to explain what it means and also what dead means. The artwork is great and non threatening. This has become a favorite.

Feynman's Thesis: A New Approach to Quantum Theory4 reviews
Richard Feynman

World Scientific Publishing Company, 2005

Pure Feynman - a real joy
I did a course on quantum theory in the 1970s with John Ward who was recommended for the Nobel Prize in 1965 (Feynman, Schwinger and Tomogana shared it). Those close to the action will know of Ward's Identity. John (died in 2002 from memory) used Feynman's lectures as his course notes. I must confess a soft spot for Feynman. I would have loved to have been in his lectures (buy his audio ...

What's the Big Secret?: Talking about Sex with Girls and Boys25 reviews
Laurie Krasny Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2000

Birds + Bees + Kids Pick!
A great book for kids 5 and under, it covers the basic information kids need to know about how babies are made, okay/not okay touches and families. Its fun cartoon illustrations make it an engaging read for the preschool set. I love the drawings of naked boys and girls that show how we are alike and different. At this age, kids are very curious about body parts, both public and private, and ...

Healthy Book Review
My seven year old daughter loves this book she is using it as her guide to get her "honey" (my husband) into shape. She has walked around holding it fussing at her father since I read it to her at bedtime. She reads passages to him and leaves notes in the refrigerator and pantry for him.

Required reading for a host
Reviewed by Dr. Letitia S. Wright, D.C. for Reader Views (6/06) Laurie Browne has created a simple book which outlines the easiest way to learn how to use a teleprompter. Dinosaurs to the Rescue1 review
Laurie Krasny Brown, Marc Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 1994

Finally, a great way to teach children about the environment!
Wow - this book was a big surprise. It was something that my kids had picked out at the library, and now we are planning to buy our own copy. With it's main character, Slobosaurus, showing children (and adults too) how we take our environment for granted, the lessons of the simple ways to correct this are great for children ages 4-8 (and even up through adults). Kids learn everything from not ...

The Rise of the Standard Model: A History of Particle Physics from 1964 to 19791 review

Cambridge University Press, 1997

essays from key authors of Standard Model
While the essays perhaps strive to reach a wide audience, the reality is that the typical reader will likely be a physicist or student of science history. If this fits your background, then the book is indeed an informative account of how the so-called Standard Model arose. Much of the book's value is that several authors were key participants in the development of the Standard Model. ...
