Knock, Knock2 reviews

Dial, 2007

Fun Book!
I bought this book for my five-year-old because she's learned some knock-knocks from other kids at school and is always trying to make up her own but doesn't understand how they're supposed to work. We both love looking at this book - the illustrations are as amusing as the jokes!

The Scrambled States of America64 reviews
Laurie Keller

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2002

A Show Worth Watching!
Okay, call me a sucker for any book that teaches while it entertains. This book excels at both. The premise is that, in the middle of the night, the state of New York woke up from a dream and shouted to all the other states, "HEY, EVERYONE--LET'S HAVE A TALENT SHOW!" And so they did. And what a rompus, good time was had by all. There's plenty of over-the-top humor, song ditties, and corny jokes ...

Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners12 reviews
Laurie Keller

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2007

Loved it!
My children, ages 6 and 4, both loved the book. The story line was cute, so they absorbed the lesson without really knowing there was a lesson to be learned! Of course, an otter tooted in the story, so what four year old boy wouldn't love it! I am bringing this into my preschool classroom to share with those children as well.

The Scrambled States of America Talent Show1 review

WE LOVE THIS BOOK!
My kids Andy (6) and Katherine (4) absolutely love this book and all of Laurie Keller's books...especially Scrambled States of America and Open Wide! They both have learned all the states and think this book is so funny. There is also a card game that goes along with the book that we play several times a day. They know which states border Canada and Mexico, which states touch the Atlantic ...

Open Wide: Tooth School Inside18 reviews
Laurie Keller

Owlet Paperbacks, 2003

wonderful
this is a wonderful book. It's better suited for reading with a small group rather than with a class. The asides are lost with a class. Even so my class walked away with an amazing amount of new knowledge about their teeth

Grandpa Gazillion's Number Yard5 reviews
Laurie Keller

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2005

Play with your Food
Why just settle for numbers as things? How about making your own "threes" out of pieces of a nice yummy yellow or red or green bell pepper? Can you make a "six" out of a bread stick and cook it up? What about a couple of "elevens" out of cheese sticks or cheese cracker sticks? If kids could eat up their times tables, maybe it would be more fun to do multiplication! Never give up on the ...

Arnie, the Doughnut24 reviews
Laurie Keller

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2003

A hilarious book. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it.
Kids like books to be read over and over again. With Arnie the Doughunt, I think the adults possibly enjoy it more than the kids. Her little comments all over the page are very funny.
