Old But Accurate
This, like the work of Joan Peters, is a magnificent piece of reporting on the real history of the Middle East conflict. But in the 27 years since it was published, that past has grown ever more faded in public and journalistic memory. Supporting Israel and the facts is now so politically incorrect that a prominent newspaper website recently deleted a posting stating this important background: ...

Remembering Satan
I think this book showed how one's mind can be influenced to remember this which perhaps never occurred. The uncertain way in which the main character spoke let me realize, that at first and maybe even finally he did not believe he had committed the acts attributed to him. I started out not liking the book but as I got further into it I realized how something like this could happen and the ...

Awesome
I wanted to respond to the reviewer who said the Bin Laden of the book wouldn't have denied the 9/11 bombings right after they happened. Remember, he does say in the book that Bin Laden denied the bombings of the East African embassies right after they happened. So I don't think the argument that Wright carefully omitted facts to make Bin Laden into a stock movie villain holds much water. In ...

Comprehensive and Thought Provoking
This is a powerful and literate overview of not only the myriad of roads leading to the September 11 disaster, but of the characters (Americans, Saudi, Pakistani, Egyptian, Afghani, etc.) who played critical roles in creating the environment for (and executing) the terrorist attack. It is a deeply discouraging book in profound ways: if you beleive that the FBI, the CIA, the Executive Branch ...

Although I had to read this book for school, I found it to be suprisingly good. I would reccomend this book.

Completely Hygienic!
Who would have thought there was so much to learn about toilets and bathroom culture? This is a great primer for those who wonder just how people did bathe and perform 'ablutions' before the days of indoor plumbing and water-trapped toilets for all (or at least those of us in western countries). Written in 1960, it assumes a bit more familiarity than most of us have with English-style boilers ...

Light and comforting as a featherbed
Though it seems to have been well researched, this is not a scholarly work, at least not the usual kind. It is, rather, an informative, offbeat, and (at least to my mind) very funny account of humankind's efforts over the centuries to get a decent night's sleep. The arrangements, contraptions, and methods employed have been astonishingly varied and mostly unsatisfactory. Mr. Wright (a onetime ...
Character Design for Mobile Devices

Deceptive title, but still a good book
Judging by the cover of this book, which features numerous sprites from old 8 & 16-bit consoles, it's hard to tell what this has to do with character design or mobile devices. In actuality, "mobile devices" has more to do with old portable gaming systems than cell phones, (plus there's virtually no mention of PDAs or their content) and there's really no mention of any aspects of character design ...
Twins: And What They Tell Us About Who We Are

Everyone should read this book.
An open-minded reading of this book will change the way you think about yourself and everyone you know. It's not just about identical twins, but about all of us, and what makes us who we are. I've read many books about twin research, and this is the best.

Riveting Reading.
An utterly arresting blend of fact and fiction, "God's Favorite" thrusts the reader into the bloody maelstrom of Panama under Noriega. The book is incredibly accessible, even entertaining, but it never loses its intent to put you into the heart of the situation, sparing no one, revealing everything. Of course, one cannot know what a historical figure thinks, believes or desires. Even their own ...

A monopoly on Truth
Lawrence Wright (the journalist and author of "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11) back in 1993 (the date in my copy) undertook the task of comprehending the major religious forces in America and his feelings about religion. He did this by profiling 6 prominent religious leaders of the time and studied them, much as a scientist studies wild animals: with awe, with trepidation, and ...
