Everything but the kitchen sink is included in this book....
Actually, I think I saw the sink somewhere in the book too! ;) It's everything you could possibly want to know about the Marxes. I like the A to Z format, it's very easy to navigate your way through the book. I use it all the time for reference. A well-researched, well-written book. Get this one.

5 Minutes More4 reviews
Sybil Jason

BearManor Media, 2007

Like Frosting on the Cake
After reading Ms. Jason's first book, I was eager to see what insights the second one would give. Sure enough, it was a treasure trove of anecdotes about some very famous stars, but just as much about the secondary stars that we've grown to love throughout their long careers, as well. Throughout the book are lots and lots of photos. My favorites are those that show the actors "then and now." ...

Articles by John Lasseter, Nancy Cartwright, ...

Jean M. Thoren, 2007

Animation Magazine The 20 Year Collection
This is a wonderful, entertaining journey into the past 20 years of animation and visual effects. It's definitely a thrill to see the progress of the art from--from 1987 to 2007 and see how far this industry has changed and improved thanks to visionaries like John Lasseter, Craig McCracken and Brad Bird. It was fun to see articles by people like Lasseter, McCracken and Nancy Cartwright (who is ...

Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy: For People Who Love Movies2 reviews
Leonard Maltin

Dark Horse Comics, 2008

He's Back
Leonard Maltin inspired a good many people from my generation in the field of classic film. His books introduced me to so many people and things I'd not yet heard of, and his love for classic film jumped off of every page. Then he became a mainstream personality and some of us die-hards felt that we'd lost our champion. Well, hear ye, hear ye....Leonard is back with a book that will delight ...

It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
This book is truly the gem of my library... A beautiful look at the careers of Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman! Reading this book brought back so many memories! Little did I realize that so many of my favorite Disney (and even non-Disney) musical films all had one special thing in common... the music of the Sherman Brothers. This wonderful book is formatted like a huge scrapbook... its ...

Special Treatment3 reviews

Berkley, 2007

Finally! A book for the rest of us!
What a great book! Readable, clearly written, and chock full of useful information. I'm about to have surgery, and was given this book as a gift, and it's already helped me deal with my doctors in a better informed fashion and I know I'm getting better care because of it. This book is great to have around the house, just in case, and it's a terrific and thoughtful gift!

Leonard Maltin's 2008 Movie Guide (Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide (Signet))30 reviews
Leonard Maltin

Signet, 2007

Encyclopedia Of Movies
Mr. Maltin has done a great service to movie buffs like myself. It's very important to me to know the names of the actors while watching the so-called old movies on TCM and AMC. I don't know what's wrong with these channels now days. They do not show the credits at the end of the movies. Neither do they inform us during a movie "you are watching so and so and so." Mr. Maltin's guide ...

Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia: Career Profiles of More Than 2000 Stars and Filmmakers, Past and Present1 review
Leonard Maltin

Dutton Adult, 1994

Great Reference Book
I originally purchased this book when I was editing acrostic puzzles, as a reference book, but I find myself referring to it frequently even now, although no longer edit puzzles. It contains "career profiles of more than 2,000 actors and filmmakers, past and present" arranged alphabetically. It also contains "filmographies" for each actor. I'd recommend this book highly.

Of Mice and Magic18 reviews
Leonard Maltin

McGraw Hill Higher Education, 1980

The history of cartoons (to the 1980s)
When I think of the history of animation, I tend to divide things into three periods: The Golden Age, noted for early Warner Brothers cartoons and the classic Disney movies such as Snow White and Fantasia; The Age of Mediocrity, where creativity seemed to reach its nadir, as seen most notably in the bland Hanna Barbera cartoons; and the Modern Era, with the resurgence in cartoon creativity, ...

Hans Conried: A Biography; With a Filmography and a Listing of Radio, Television, Stage and Voice Work1 review

McFarland & Company, 2002

A Long-Overdue Biography of a Magnificent Character Actor
As a voice artist and character performer myself, I have long been in the habit of studying the "old masters" (Mel Blanc, Paul Frees, Stan Freberg, Daws Butler, and of course Hans Conried). Since most of them are no longer with us, I can only study examples of their work, as well as books and articles about them. Sadly, such books and articles are very few and very far between, and it can be ...

Leonard Maltin's Carole Lombard may ...

Leonard Maltin's 1998 Movie and Video Guide7 reviews
Leonard Maltin

Signet, 1997

How'd I live without one?
I picked up my very first copy of this invaluable resource (1993 edition) at a yard sale several years ago. Now, of course, I buy one annually and pass the old version along to favored friends and relatives. My two adult sons refuse, however, to be recipients ("we'd rather call and ask YOU for the information!") I refer to my guide daily at the very least (can you tell I love movies?), ...
