Consciousness and Behavior, Fourth Edition
Benjamin Wallace
, Leslie E. Fisher
Waveland Pr Inc
, 2003
Now available from Waveland Press, this leading text presents an enlightened departure from the traditional study of psychology and behavior. Wallace and Fisher view consciousness as "the processing of information at various levels of awareness": wakefulness (unaltered state of awareness); differentiated waking states (altered states of awareness, e.g., drug-induced); and sleep. People can easily compare experiences that occur during their ...

By far the funniest book I've ever read
The Naked Truth is more fiction than reality; nearly all of the details are admittedly false. While it does leave the reader longing to know the actual details of Nielsen's life, the non-stop hilarity quickly takes the focus off the obvious lies. I've read this probably about 5 times, and can keep picking it up every day and read a couple of pages and still laugh at the jokes. It is not only the ...

I am using this required text for a graduate level reading course. The guided lessons are very easy to understand and use as a guideline for lesson plans. The book also gives specific books to use for each lesson, which I found to be very helpful. Final thoughts for each chapter gave excellent guidelines for adapting the lessons for special-needs students. Blacklines were excellent teaching ...

Couldn't put it down.
Joe McCormick and his wife's real-life account of their scary brushes with death and the cold, harsh reality of the heathcare nightmares in the small villages of Africa is a truly wonderful read. Their skills as both physicians and skilled epidemiologists are very impressive, as well as the way they convey their experiances out in the field. Having been a major fan of Richard Preston's "The Hot ...

Neither Naked nor the Truth, But Hilarious
I love the comedies that Leslie Nielsen has made over the years including the Airplane! series and The Naked Gun series. When I saw a copy of this book at a used bookstore, it attracted my interest. I thought it was an actual biography until I started reading through it. Nielsen writes a fictitious acount of his career in The Naked Truth, and the result in very funny book. The story sees him ...

For over forty years, social scientists have noted and puzzled over the gender gap in publication rates of academic scientists. In this study, the author, Robert L. Fisher, argues that men and women scientists differ in their problem choice process and that this difference may be behind much of the difference in publication rates.
