The Cabinet of Curiosities259 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Best Pendergast Book
I have read all of the Pendergast novels and other various Preston/Child works and find myself always thinking of this one as my favorite. Although I like the "Diogenes Trilogy" (Brimstone, Dance of Death and Book of the Dead), this one seemed to really work my imagination better. It was more mentaly stimulating for lack of a better phrase. One of the reasons I liked this book so much is ...

I have read up to book number five in the series and i have loved them all. I get wrapped up in all the family. The history is great and the plots are real.

RELIC277 reviews
Douglas and Lincoln Child Preston

Torch Press, 1996

The Pot Boils Over
These two authors are fond of using the New York Museum of Natural History as a backdrop for their thrillers. This is their first book and it is a doozie! A strange half-reptilian beast is roaming the sub-basements and corridors of the Museum disemboweling lost visitors, guards who stop for a reefer and stray researchers. Then it eats their brains. A lovely grad student Margo Green, her ...

Thunderhead189 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Grand Central Publishing, 2000

The first of many for me by these authors...
I was searching for good, new (to me) authors, when I realized I had read all of James Rollins' books and was waiting for my "to be sent when published in paperback" copy of Rollins' The Judas Strain. I read the reviews on Amazon and decided Preston and Child offered potential to interest me. I was right in sampling one of their books. Thunderhead interested me because it was about archeology ...

Amazing Read
This book was an amazing ending to a trilogy that I loved! If you enjoy this genre these two authors will blow you away. Pendergast is one of my favorite fictional characters in literature today.

Brimstone200 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Amazon Remainders Account, 2004

Pendergast!
You'd think after reading the majority of the Preston/Child novels that I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Brimstone. But I did. For some reason I wasn't, at first, attracted to the solo Pendergast novels. The struck me more as mysteries than the usual Preston Child book. And now that I've read one, I can confirm that is true...but they've converted me to a mystery reader! Pendergasts character is ...

Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Brilliance Audio on CD Unabridged, 2008

another great thriller
While I agree this book wasn't as good as Relic, it certainly was an admirable follow-up to it. Storylines left hanging in Relic were resolved albeit perhaps not in the most exciting of ways. What I read in this book enticed me to purchase The Mole People to find out more about the underground world brought out in the book.

Dark Company: The Ten Greatest Ghost Stories1 review

St Martins Pr, 1984

Dark Company -- Required reading for the horror enthusiast
This horror anthology's subtitle, "The Ten Greatest Ghost Stories", says it all. The serious student of the horror genre will already have read most, if not all, of the selections in this book. The beauty of this anthology is having ALL your favorites between two covers of one thin book. This is a great "carry on" for travelers. This book includes the true classics (e.g. Poe's "Fall of the ...

Riptide180 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Grand Central Publishing, 1999

excellent thriller
I have read Preston and Child books since discovering them last year. All the books are great and thrilling. I was a little concerned because many of the ones I'd happened to read all involved monsters that emitted strange scents. I'd begun to wonder if the duo was stuck in a rut. Well, I didn't have to worry, because Riptide is a whole different ballgame, yet equally as thrilling. The ...

Death Match25 reviews
Lincoln Child

Anchor, 2006

Pleasantly surprised!
Having recently felt the urge to read thriller novels that would keep me awake all night, I tried a few novels by some authors I had not read before. Most of these books I did not even finish, since they bored me so much that I felt I would rather sit and watch the grass grow. I must add that they were real insomnia-busters (I'm not going to name them, though!). Then I picked up Death Match. ...

Death Match52 reviews
Lincoln Child

Wheeler Publishing, 2004

good book!!!
Mr. Child certainly has found a niche - technology and writing thrillers. A little difficult to get through all the 00000000's and other techno babble - but necessary to be convincing. Great read...

Dance of Death174 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child, 2005

Dance of Death
My husband and I first read "The Book of the Dead" by Preston and Child. We became completely captivated by their character Special Agent Pendergast, FBI. This character shines in the book "Dance of Death." "Dance of Death" is finely written to hold your interest till the very last page. Thank you Preston and Child. Let's have more books with the Pendergast character. Sarah Jonker-Burke

Mount Dragon87 reviews
Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Tor Books, 1997

EXCELLENT READ
The action builds by changing the reader's perspective from one character to another. Drawn into the consequences of biomedical affairs, both past and present, the characters deal with ethics, greed and the crushing choice whether or not to construct and release into the world a virus that is 100% fatal. I could not put the book down. The last chapter was too, sorry to report, predictable. ...

Tales of the Dark1 review
Lincoln Child

St Martins Mass Market Paper, 1987

Oldies but Goodies...
These are true ghost stories (forget S.K.). The Upper Berth by F. Marion Crawfors is a masterpiece! Creepy! I've read it three times now. The Voice in the Night by William Hope Hodgson is also great. It's about a man and woman who get shipwrecked and find an old ship adrift, covered with mold. These two stories alone make it worth the purchase.

Utopia91 reviews
Lincoln Child

Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2004

Utopia by Lincoln Child
Lincoln Child is one of my very favorite authors ever and this book was superbly written with action continuously all the way through. I strongly suggest all books he co-wrote with Douglas Preston and his other two solo books, Death Match and Deep Storm. This man is one of the most super-talented and gifted authors today. This book takes place in an amusement park which is a little different ...
