Old Black35 reviews

Beverly Publishing Co. Inc., 1997

An excellent book for youth and young adults
I was given this book by a friend and was surprised at the well-balanced combination of story, locale and apt descriptions of riding events. Buck Jones: a rodeo cowboy who becomes seriously ill and must get rid of his beloved horse. I liked Buck a lot, and so did his friends in the story. He raised Old Black from a colt and only became a rodeo star after Old Black came on the scene as his ...

Cross-Train Your Horse: Book One: Simple Dressage for Every Horse, Every Sport30 reviews
Jane Savoie

Trafalgar Square Books, 1998

Well worth the money
I recently purchased Jane Savoie's book Cross train your horse. I have read it through twice now and I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn to be a better rider and partner with your horse. It is well written and breaks down learning dressage in bite sized pieces for anyone new to the sport.

Call Of Cthulhu: Horror Roleplaying In the Worlds Of H.P. Lovecraft (5.5 Edition / Version 5.5)34 reviews
Sandy Petersen, Lynn Willis

Chaosium, 1998

Yet another 5-star review
Doesn't it tell you something, that *every* review for this edition of this book gives it 5 stars? (Some of the out-of-print editions have reviews here too.) And let's face it, us RPG enthusiasts are not the sort of folks to shy away from criticizing. Some people will say the Basic Roleplaying rule-set is outdated. It's true that games like Unknown Armies and Godlike are pretty cool, and I know ...

TACKY PENGUIN PA+AUDIO39 reviews
Helen Lester, Lynn M. Munsinger

Houghton Mifflin/Walter Lorraine Books, 1991

Funny and touching
Helen Lester's books all combine sweet stories with terrific humor that both children and adults can enjoy. The stories are just the right length and have a nice hidden message as well--you may be different but that can be a plus! The whole Tacky series is wonderful.

Color Atlas of Anatomy: A Photographic Study of the Human Body35 reviews
Johannes W. Rohen, Chihiro Yokochi, ...

Igaku-Shoin Medical Publishers, 1993

excellent
This atlas has real cadaver photos for all areas of the body. The fact that the pictures are real will help when studying for a practical exam in anatomy. The only negative aspect is there are around 50 pins per page which could be annoying when searching for a part you want to find.

Bang Bang21 reviews
Lynn Hoffman

Kunati Inc., 2009

This is a "Why didn't I think of that?" book.
Everybody talks about guns, the right and the wrong about having them, but nobody does anything about it. (So to speak.) Nobody except this author. His ingenious novel tells how one woman deals with guns. And the way she deals with it carries you through the pages with the greatest of ease. I can imagine novelists saying, "Why didn't I think of that?" Five shots. I mean 5 stars.

Rescuing Da Vinci: Hitler and the Nazis Stole Europe's Great Art - America and Her Allies Recovered It27 reviews
Robert M. Edsel

Laurel Publishing, LLC, 2006

Wonderful Gift, Wonderful Book!
I was really surprised by this book. I thought it was going to contain more text but it's really all about the art and the people who rescued it. The result is a very impressive, easily readable 'coffee table' style book that's beautiful and informative. Teachers should grab this up for the classroom and it also would make a great gift for anyone interested in WWII and it's aftermath. I can't say ...

Speaker, author and media personality
Lynn Morrissey has a beautifully poetic way of writing, in a deeply personal manner with candor and humility that draws the reader into an intimacy with her, while revealing the kind of relationship we can all have with God, through faith in Jesus Christ. Overcoming Autism25 reviews
Lynn Kern, Ph.D. Koegel, Claire Lazebnik, 2004

An Excellent Buy
There are books on autism that I recommend that parents and heathcare professionals read. This is one book that I recommend that they don't just read but buy and keep it for future references. There is such a wealth of info on autism here. If you can only afford to buy one book on autism. Let this be the one. The authors take a highly optimistic view of treating autism. However, they make ...

Gods and Kings (Chronicles of the Kings #1)21 reviews
Lynn Austin

Bethany House Publishers, 2005

Best Ever Historical Novel series based on Scripture!
I pass books on, this series I pass on, but want them back. The stories are rich and not at all trite. Rich spiritually and historically. Great character development. I especially like the novels that have an explanation at the end of where facts were gathered.

Grieving the Loss of Someone You Love: Daily Meditations to Help You Through the Grieving Process25 reviews
Ray Mitsch, Lynn Brookside

Vine Books, 1993

Grieving the Loss of Someone you Love
This book is written is such a good way to help you through the grieving process. It details what's "normal" and helps the grieving person sort out their feelings. Though nobody goes through the grieving process the same way another person may, this book gives guidance on how to cope with the feelings of loss and sadness. I found it encouraging and supportive and at the same time, it seemed to ...

Candle in the Darkness (Refiner's Fire Series #1)28 reviews
Lynn Austin

Bethany House Publishers, 2002

An amazing historical novel!
I read this book in 2 days and couldn't put it down last night until I finished it at 2am. The author gave great details on the war and the characters that you feel like you're part of the story. I also like how the character, Caroline Fletcher, stood up for what she believed and still fought to save her family, even though they didn't agreed what she believed in. I also liked how the author ...
