Encyclopedia of the American Left2 reviews

Oxford University Press, USA, 1998

Building the Left today
This book is indispensable for any activist today. It is very helpful in the sense of going through the history of different figures and dynamics of the labor movement, women's struggle, gay rights struggle and the civil rights movement while also going into detail about their different publications and the overall collapse of the left. The Concise History of Woman Suffrage: Selections from History of Woman Suffrage, by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, ...

University of Illinois Press, 2005

In their "Concise History of Woman Suffrage", Mari Jo Buhle and Paul Buhle have revitalized ...

Prentice Hall, 2008

Too Concise
This was the required text for my college U.S. history class. In my opinion the information throughout the book is too concise. There seems to be an anti white American bias throughout the text that could have been toned down a bit. The book does offer many informative and appropriate visual aids to enhance the material. I like the many featured artworks from specific periods. "Out of Many" ...

great service, terrible book
Was delivered on time and was in the condition specified(new in plastic). The book itself is clearly biased in not only what is and is not covered, but also in the language used. This book could only be marketed to a captive audience ignorant of history.
