The Babbo Cookbook22 reviews
Mario Batali

Clarkson Potter, 2002

One of my Favorites!
I love this book! Since it arrived (about a month ago) I have made 3 dishes, which really means I have made about 6. Most of the dishes in this cookbook require several other recipes which are also found in the book. For instance, the classic Osso Buco requires you to make a basic tomato sauce as well as a brown chicken stock. Could you go out and buy a good tomato sauce and chicken stock? ...

Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes to Cook at Home69 reviews
Mario Batali

Ecco, 2005

Great cookbook. One of the best!
For as complicated as some of the recipe names sound, don't be put off. Most of them are simple, easy to prepare, and easy to acquire ingredients. Really great flavors, and terrific meals to serve to family or guests. Highly, highly recommended!

Great recipes
I bought the book for my husband, turned out to be the best thing I did. He is cooking on the weekends, loves the recipes. They taste great. The book is great even if you are not a Nascar fan. They have recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner even deserts. Quick and easy meals to prepare. Would recommended the book to everyone.

The Best American Recipes 2005-2006: The Year's Top Picks from Books, Magazines, Newspapers, and the Internet ...4 reviews

Houghton Mifflin, 2005

Fabulous!
Rarely do I read a cookbook, and I read a lot of them, and think that every single recipe sounds fantastic--this is the exception. A yummy, easy to follow compilation of great recipes! The tips and notes from the authors/cooks after each recipe are practical and time-saving--helpful for both the novice and experienced cook. AND the authors picked their favorites from the favorites and listed ...

La dolce vita...
Gina DePalma's Dolce Italiano: Desserts from the Babbo Kitchen collects a treasure trove of desserts and savories from Mario Batali's Babbo restaurant (The Babbo Cookbook) in NYC. There are several forewords, including one by Mario Batali himself and Colum Sheehan, wine director of Babbo. Gina's thorough introduction includes her own earliest memories of her Nonni's kitchen and growing up in a ...

Vino Italiano: The Regional Wines of Italy22 reviews
Joseph Bastianich, David Lynch

Clarkson Potter, 2002

The definitive book about italian wine
I had the hard-cover version of this book and insisted so many friends and colleagues read it I managed to lose it and had to buy another copy! Great descriptions, recipes and candid details about Italian wines-- especially wines that one can actually have a chance to purchase without a plane ticket to Italy.

Mario Batali Holiday Food9 reviews
Mario Batali

Clarkson Potter, 2000

Lots of great recipes
I enjoy Mario Batali's quality work, both his interesting/funny TV shows and his interesting/beautiful books (the photographs are beautiful). Often when you buy quality Italian cookbooks with traditional recipes you get the feeling that it's been produced for professional chefs only. The recipes are too advanced and time consuming, and often require access to an Italian food market in order to ...

The Unprejudiced Palate: Classic Thoughts on Food and the Good Life (Modern Library Food)7 reviews
Angelo M. Pellegrini

Modern Library, 2005

Unprejudiced palate?
Ms. Waters says that the book should be called "The prejudiced palate", and I agree. Angelo Pellegrini's book is both a cookbook and a gustatory memoir. It reminded me of many foods that I have not had since I was a child growing up in southern Spain, including rabbit, and odd cuts of meat, impossible to find at the local market. This book is a must for anyone interested in basic cooking, able to ...

Molto Italiano - 327 Simple Italian Recipes To Cook At Home1 review
Mario Batali

Ecco Press, 2005

New Edition of Great Italian Cookbook.
`Molto Italiano' is Food Network icon Mario Batali's fourth and, to my lights, best cookbook to date. Like Mario, it has a very nice heft to it, advertising 327 recipes in an utterly simple organization in 450 easy to read pages with a built-in ribbon bookmark, something I think should be a required feature on all cookbooks. For all of those clamoring to buy Giada De Laurentiis' cookbook, I would ...

Tom Valenti, Andrew Friedman

Scribner, 2003

If you only can buy one cookbook
As a busy working father who also does the cooking, I have always looked for the collection of recipes which is appealing to the whole family yet tastes interesting, and can be prepared without needing to take the whole day off to shop and prepare. Without exception, every recipe in this book as been a winner. Try the seemingly ordinary poule au pot, Slow Braised Chicken in a Pot. You won't ...
