The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time 26 reviews Mark Haddon
Vintage, 2004
Extremely Raw - and a Super read In a murder, there is usually one mystery to solve, even though plots are far-fetched and convoluted. This murder (of the dog mentioned in the title) has the actual killing, the highly involved world of the detective, and the question of whether "they all live happily ever after" to unravel.
I read this book on recommendation after hearing a very inspiring talk by a Danish gentleman at a ...

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time 5 reviews Mark Haddon
Red Fox, 2004
"My memory is like a film. I press Rewind and Fast Forward." Writing this first novel from the point of view of an autistic 15-year-old, Mark Haddon takes the reader into the chaos of autism and creates a character of such empathy that many readers will begin to feel for the first time what it is like to live a life in which there are no filters to eliminate or order the millions of pieces of information that come to us through our senses every instant of ...

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time 1410 reviews Mark Haddon
Vintage, 2004
An amazingly accurate portrayal of a person with Asperger's. I was amazed to find that Haddon doesn't actually have Asperger's. His portrayal is spot on. A fascinating and accurate look into the thought processes and experiences of a person with Asperger's.

A Spot of Bother (Vintage) 96 reviews Mark Haddon
Vintage, 2007
One very funny book This is one of the funniest books I have read in a long while. Mark Hadden has a great touch in pointing out the bizarre in every day life, in an appropriately understated way. Other reviewer have covered the stories and characters, so what I would add is that I found this book much funnier (laugh out lout funny) than some of the other reviewers.

The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea: Poems 2 reviews Mark Haddon
Vintage, 2006
As witty and charming as his novel I bought this book because I loved his novel and because I love poetry. I was not dissappointed. The book is lovely to look at for starters. The poems made me smile and think, rather than wonder what the poet meant.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time 3 reviews Mark Haddon
Random House Audiobooks, 2003
A book that gives you different point of view This book is written in the point of view of Christopher, a boy with Asperger's Syndrome--a kind of autism. What is inside this book is really different than those fiction books I've ever read. Don't be surprised with the grammar and vocabulary used in this book as they are so simple and too detail. It is what on Christopher's mind. His left brain is dominant while his right brain, where the ...

The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea Mark Haddon
Picador, 2005
That Mark Haddon's first book after The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a book of poetry will perhaps come as a surprise to his legions of fans; that it is also one of such virtuosity and range will simply astonish them. The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea reveals a poet of great versatility and formal talent: all the gifts so admired in Haddon's prose are in strong evidence herethe humanity of his ...

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time 1 review Mark Haddon
Random House Audiobooks, 2004
A wonderfully funny and poignant story NOTE: This review is based on reading the book, not listening to the audio version.
In the second chapter of this book (actually labelled as "3" because this is the second prime number), we are introduced to Christopher, the narrator, who is writing a mystery novel as a class project. Christopher is an extremely intelligent 15-year old who just happens to be autistic. He begins his tale by ...
