In Camera--Francis Bacon: Film, Photography, and the Practice of Painting

A fascinating exploration of photography and painting
"In Camera" is one of the most interesting books on Francis Bacon, one of the greatest painters of the 20th century, ever published for several reasons: First, it takes good advantage of the meanwhile fairly large array of books, catalogs and articles which have been published on Bacon. Second, Harrison had access to materials, mainly photographs that have not been published before. Third, he was ...

Amazing
Great work of new american plays - one of the best Humana Festivals I have read. The cast of actors, directors, designers, and fight choreographers are top notch and excellent resource of up and coming people to see on stage. The performances of these plays only helped to illuminate the writing - reading the words is just as great as seeing the productions - Actors Theatre of Louisville's ...

Instead of 'Seeing Fashion' simply 'Seeing' would say it all
I could begin by highly recommending this photography book with all the superlatives that it certainly deserves, but this still would not describe these photos adequately or do this publication true justice. For as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words and all the brilliant photos in this book one would need thousands upon thousands of words and even then one could never say enough ...

Stunning Fashion Photography! Puts The Zip In Your Zipper.
Lillian Bassman is a well known fashion photographer of the 40's and 50's. Her work is glamorous and visually exciting. The photos in this collection are a combination of photography and other artistic tools which give them an almost otherworldly feel. The book is oversized, which makes many of the pictures big enough for framing which is exactly what I intend to do. There is also a short ...

an excellent review book
I found this review book an excellent source of knowledge and simple to understand. This book by passes all the intricate biochemical details and present the meat and potatoes so to speak. The wisdom of the pearls make this book unique. I recommend this book to any professional in a primary care setting.

Marvin Israel's pitcures of Elvis Presley.
Elvis Presley 1956 is not the same than other Elvis Presley books. It is shorter than any other books about Elvis Presley. And has more pitcures. The pitcures were taken by Marvin Israel but he didn't live to see this book because in the spring of 1984 he died of a heart attack. The pitcures were taken in 1956. And they are never seen before pitcures of Elvis Presley. Marvin Israel took a pitcure ...

SUPERMODEL
Lisa Fonssagrives was the first true supermodel. She had a cool easiness to her modeling, she was almost surreal. Her beauty was perfection. I do not believe there has ever been a model that can compare to her. The supermodels of today, Cindy, Naomi, Claudia are all beautiful, but not in the same way that Lisa was perfect. Its so nice to see her images captured in a book. I hope that in the ...

2400 pages of disease!
This is an excellent comprehensive medical text covering practically every aspect of Internal Medicine. A must for the Primary Care Physician. Personally, I would get the two volume set as the single thick back has a tendancy to break away from the binding.

Great early works
This is an excellent, if somewhat uneven treatment of Clarke's works from the 1960's through his major works of 1976-1982. Included are discussions of his influences (The Outer Limits and Rossetti to name only two), his schoolboy days, and his influence on both British and American artists. Worth a look...

Classic Mod Iconography from the Swinging Sixties
This exciting book combines portraits and fashion photography to show the revolution of casual coolness that David Bailey brought to both fields. Filled with classic poses of Jean Shrimpton, Penelope Tree, Catherine Deneuve, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones that you will remember, the book is strengthened by many images you have never seen before. Breaking the previous rules for portraits ...

Excellent!
This book does come at very very very hefty price, but it is so much worth it. This is where I totally disagree with the previous reviwer. I have found it hard to find a book that explains the concepts of logistics and supply chain management in a clearer fashion than this book. Every chapter features a number of case studies in which the theory is discussed in-depth. In addition the figures and ...

Odd but good
Whitaker was a pretty far-out photographer, who liked to take images and add his own artwork to them. Some of the stuff he did this way is pretty poor, but when he sticks to straight photography he comes up with some good ones. (Others are blurry.) His posed photos of John and Cynthia at home are great, as are some of his shots of the Beatles on tour. Interesting.

For the lay person---NOT!!!
There is a reason why med students learn anatomy, histology, embryology, physiology, and biochemistry before picking up Harrison's, so I snicker when non-MD's think they can read and understand ( with the help of Taber's medical dictionary, which by the way is used by nurses, physicians in training use Dorland's) a medical textbook, especially one like Harrison's.( What is especially humorous is ...
