Justice League of America: The Greatest Stories Ever Told2 reviews
Gerry Conway, Gardner Fox, ...

DC Comics, 2006

A SOLID COLLECTION!
Anything called the `greatest' is always going to be subjective and open for debate. At first glance at "The Greatest JLA Stories Ever Told" seems a bit slight to hold such a lofty title. After all, were talking about a title that has been around for nearly fifty years. I'm not sure if these are truly the best stories ever featuring the Justice league of America, rather it seems that the ...

Lonely Planet New Zealand25 reviews
Paul Smitz, Martin Robinson, ...

Lonely Planet Publications, 2004

Highly recommended
I just went on a month-long trip from Auckland to Christchurch, and this book was very helpful. Apparently a new version is going to come out soon. Definitely get the new one as some of the information was starting to get old. You don't absolutely have to get a travel guide before going to NZ (especially if you're on a tour like Kiwi Experience), but if you are going to get a travel guide, I ...

Dreams of Sex and Stagediving2 reviews
Martin Millar

Fourth Estate, 1994

Again, Millar's best.
I agree with Peter's review - This one is Millar's best book and the hero Elfish is the best character he's ever created (if she is real, he won't tell me where she lives so I can marry her). Possibly not enough fairys for a Millar book, but hey, you can't have everything and they would possibly distract a bit from the plot. If you read this one, you'll read all of his others and definately not ...

Lux the Poet1 review
Martin Millar

Fourth Estate, 1994

absolutely brillant!
It would be nonsense to try an summarise the plot. All I can say is that this is probably the funniest book I have ever read. I say 'probably' because there is also "Milk, Sulfate and Alby Starvation" by the same author. Trust me on that and get that book!

Love & Peace with Melody Paradise5 reviews
Martin Millar

I.M.P. Fiction, 2000

For anyone who likes to laugh
I was given this book during my travels in Europe. The title scared me off quite a bit. But boredom on trains drove me to reading it. Am I ever glad I did. It was hilarious! I couldn't put it down. When I was finished I read it again. This book is written for everyone. Easy to read funny ,and endearing. You find yourself rooting for your favorite of Melodys many suitors, and booing the ones you ...

Suzy, Led Zeppelin, and Me2 reviews
Martin Millar

Soft Skull Press, 2008

For fans of Zep... or, just fans of wonderful writing
I started reading it last night, and read 33 chapters before having to put it down. It is excellent! Mainly because of the author's writing style. Cynical, funny, and to the point. It's the semi-autobiographical memoir of a 14 year old Led Zeppelin fan living in Glasgow, Scotland in 1972. I, for one, really like it. And when an author does a good job, I like to spread the word. So there it is!

Lonely Werewolf Girl19 reviews
Martin Millar

Soft Skull Press, 2008

A Fairytale Classic For The 21st Century
"Lonely Werewolf Girl" is a modern-day fairytale, destined to become a twenty-first century classic. Like the fables from the Brothers Grimm, Martin's story is a mixture of mysterious characters, improbable situations...laced with underlying social issues prevalent to current times. Unlike previous enchanted myths and legends, Martin interlaces his tale with his signature abundance of ...

Tank Girl: Novelisation1 review
Martin Millar

Penguin USA (Mm), 1996

Super Reader
This has enough amusing parts to make it worth a go. At the start, Tank Girl is involved in a card game, and being told off for sleeping with kangaroos, and via one of the players: " 'Yes,' says Tank Girl, 'when the great comet struck I was only a little girl, can't have been more than four or five. I was precociously intelligent and brave even then, of course, always having adventures and ...
