Cross-Country Cat12 reviews
Mary Calhoun

HarperTrophy, 1986

Childhood Favorite!
This was a favorite book of mine growing up. I still have my old copy in a box somewhere. I never grew tired of hearing how brave Henry was, slushing through the snow on his skis. I wish I could find a newer hardbound copy. A true classic is hard to forget. Excellent choice for any child, boy or girl, over age four.

Blue-Ribbon Henry2 reviews
Mary Calhoun

HarperCollins Publishers, 1999

The best Henry book yet! My kids & I laughed out loud.
Being Henry fans for many years, we are always happy to see a new Henry book. My children and I agree that this is our favorite so far. We read it together and belly laughed as Henry dashed to save the boy from the pig! As we are small town midwesterners, we can relate to the county fair theme and are pleased that Henry got to experience both the excitement and competition a fair brings to ...

Katie John6 reviews
Mary Calhoun

HarperCollins, 1960

Mary Calhoun should continue this series. IT ROCKS!
Katie John is a character I grew up with, and the books about her are filled with fun, adventures, and funny things that happen, while teaching good vurtues. Which is more than I can say for some of the depressing childrens' books in the bookstores and libraries today. The author should keep writing!

Honestly, Katie John3 reviews

HarperCollins Publishers, 1972

Katie is a girl like Beverly Cleary's Ellen Tebbits
I read this book when I was 9 in 4th grade. In summer 1985 I was with my family on vacation on the washinton coast staying in a cabin in Grays Harbor area, and Mom would go garage sale-ing during the day. She bought this book for 10c and I knew I was going to like it. The inside title page showed Katie on her bike and she reminded me of Beverly Cleary's Ellen Tebbits. I fell in love with Katie ...

A talented Siamese cat cleverly overcomes "sibling rivalry"
Kids will love the Henry books! Henry is a very talented Siamese cat who learns to balance on his hind legs. He puts his talent to good use when he rescues the newcomer to the family. Kids will love this book because it successfully blends suspense with the themes of sibling rivalry and working hard to overcome obstacles. And, of course, it has a happy ending! Lost Treasures: The House of Thirty Cats - Book #7 (Lost Treasures, 7)5 reviews
Mary Calhoun

Volo, 2002

Excellent Reading
This book has left a permanent impression on me. I read it about 50 times when I was 14 years old. I had a paperback copy that was accidentally sold at a garage sale. I have been searching for it ever since. It left me with a new respect for cats (which I already adore), and a feeling that I had actually visited the house the cats lived in. I especially loved the birthday party that was ...
