Teaching English in Middle and Secondary Schools (4th Edition)4 reviews
Rhoda J. Maxwell, Mary Jordan Meiser

Prentice Hall, 2004

Not your typical textbook
I am currently a senior education major at Eastern Mennonite University in VA and this is the absolute best textbook I have ever used. Most of textbooks sit on the shelf and I skim them for needed class info. This particular textbook I have read every word and have gained so much knowledge. It is not written in the typical dry textbook language and is so easy to understand!

Essential Carer's Guide
Mary Jordan

Hammersmith Press, 2006

A practical guide for carers of elderly and disabled relatives and friends, bringing together the many aspects (physical, emotional, social and financial) that most carers struggle to discover for themselves. Illustrated throughout with case histories and personal experiences, the book emphasises that every relationship between carer and cared-for is different but that there is common ground where practical advice can really make a difference. ...

The Rock Art of Arizona: Art for Life's Sake5 reviews
Ekkehart Malotki

Kiva Publishing, 2007

Absolutely beautiful book
THE ROCK ART OF ARIZONA is an absolutely beautiful book, something you want to hold and investigate joyfully and unhurriedly. Gorgeous photography and superb graphic design invite frequent re-visiting and lingering delight. But it is much more than a visual treat. It tells a story. Ekkehart Malotki is either an artist who thinks like a scientist, or a scientist who feels like an artist. Just ...

The Prison Angel: Mother Antonia's Journey From Beverly Hills To A Life Of Service In A Mexican Jail22 reviews
Mary Jordan and Kevin Sullivan

Thorndike Press, 2005

Inspirational Life
Mother Antonia is an inspiration for us to see all people as fellow humans with similar needs - to be cared for, loved, and accepted. I appreciate that she paved the way to be valuable at an "older" age, and she welcomes women in their later years as valuable and able to serve others. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and passed it around among many friends.

Reading and Writing for Academic Success
Mary Kaye Jordan, Lia Plakans

Univ of Michigan Pr, 2003

Reading & Writing for Academic Success was designed to present high-level academic content-based instruction to students who are preparing to participate in the academic community. The material is appropriate for classes where critiquing and integrating authentic text to reflect, react, write, and revise is stressed. This text reinforces some study skills -- annotation as a bridge to summary writing, an understanding of various genres, ...

The Guy Not Taken: Stories59 reviews
Jennifer Weiner

Simon & Schuster Audio, 2006

Classic Jennifer Weiner in The Guy Not Taken
I greatly enjoyed this collection of short stories. Most of the tales revolve around the author's recurring themes of abandonment and self worth and allow the reader glimmers into ideas that obviously developed into her full length novels, and perhaps ones as yet unwritten.
