A Bedtime Tradition
This has been my daughter's favorite book since she was 9 months old. She is 20 months old now and she still pulls it out of the book bin every night. The pictures aare simple, colorful and cute. The story is short and sweet. We also found finger puppets of flowers, bees, ladybugs and butterflies to use with the book. I also buy this book for all of my friends. This is definately one of the ...

Baby's favorite book
I began reading this book to my baby as part of our bedtime routine when she was 5 months old. She is now 7 months old and still loves it! This was the first book, other than books involving animal sounds, that she seemed to really enjoy. (And I got very tired of only reading books with animal sounds!) She loves the pictures and she looks to me after I read certain pages anticipating the ...

I Love It When We Read Together
My daughter has had her copy of I LIKE IT WHEN..., by Mary Murphy, for nearly two years. Even thought it is geared toward babies and toddlers, my 3 year old still finds this book very enjoyable and very comforting. It is still a good book to fall asleep to. I LIKE IT WHEN...is a series of interactions between a young penguin and an adult caregiver. With no names or defining details, the ...

Fun train ride full of animals and their sounds
This is one of my (19 month old) daughter's favorite stories. She loves filling in the animal sounds, dog barking, donkey hee-hawing, etc. I got it from the library, she likes it so much, I just bought a copy.

a family of newcomers struggle to make it i a small town
lona Rubenstein's "From Away" strips the facade off life in America's most famous small town, East Hampton. Her story, of a family struggling to survivedespite a dangerous undercurrent of gambling, comes alive thanks to the author's compelling prose and dead-on instincts. Her heroine, Sally Singer, provides a primer for women who have to take control of their own lives despite a series of ...

A Great Book for Babies and Toddlers!
I bought this book when my daughter was 3 months old. She enjoyed it as a baby and still enjoys it as a toddler (just turned 3). It's pretty sturdy considering it's not a board book. It survived her chewing/ drooling baby years. It has a simple story line about a caterpillar who is sad because she can't fly like her friends, Bee and Ladybug. She become's a caterpillar in the end and is happy ...

Bright Illustrations, Wonderful Message!
Both of my children love this book. I think the pull tabs and moving parts are very clever and well done. Some are a little fragile, but we have had this book for six years and it really hasn't been a problem. My favorite thing about the book is that some page spreads show Roxie, the fox, and Bo, the rabbit, liking different foods, wearing different accessories, making different discoveries, ...

Beyond Your Usual Diet Book
This book by Mary Murphy doesn't just try to change the behavior alone of a person in need of weight control. It goes right to the very heart of the problem ... the reader's heart. The battle starts in the heart and is won in the heart by applying the Word of God to the battle. If you have tried to take off pounds before and failed, get this book and open your Bible and study how God can ...

Thoughts from a teacher...
I am a toddler teacher always looking for great new books to read at circle time - this is it! The story follows a simple format easy enough for 2-3 year olds in day care to understand. The illustrations are vibrant and easy for children to identify with. This is a wonderful book that lets children know that their world is important to us and that the emotions they feel are natural and quite ...

Disturbing and Fantastic
Thomas spends most of the book geeting you intimately involved with the heroine's life and mind. So much so, that the final impact of the book comes as an horrific shock. I had nightmares, but reading the book is worth it. Louis Fried, author of "Other Countries/Other Worlds"

Great
My baby really liked this book. The pop-up surprise at the end is great. The little penguin is terrific in 3-D. I hope there will be a little penguin book in the future where all the pages are 3-D. If you have a baby that likes to grab things, you'd want to keep them from tearing up the pop-up page. The paper quality is good, but not as durable as a board book.

Super cute!
We love this book! My 2 year old daughter and I live in Honduras so we are always on the lookout for good Spanish and bilingual books. This is perfect. The text is in both Spanish and English. The bright, simple illustrations show the Mommy (or Daddy) penguin and baby penguin doing all the things we like to do together (reading books, tickling, holding hands, giving hugs) and some of the ...

Great 'emotions' book
My daughter is 2 1/2 and has really found her emotions lately. This book is a cute and humorous way for young ones to understand that feeling mad (and sad, and happy...) is OK. The pictures are also fun and colorful to keep the wee-ones interested!
