Recommend reading for intelligent animal lovers
I picked this book up in the gift shop of the San Diego Zoo, one of the few of substance they had. Even for me, a casual, but intelligent zoo visitor, this was worth $30.00. There is much more to animal captivity than I realized. Every zoo has two sides: the happy, visitor side, and the business/breeding side. Everyone knows about the happy side of a zoo. This helps lift the curtain on the ...

Outstanding explanation personality types in spiritual terms
This book presents an outstanding understanding of the personality types including psychosocial development. It correlates Jungian personality types (and Meyers-Briggs Type Indicators) to a spiritual and biblical context to help us in our journey toward wholeness. This is an excellent resource for personal growth as well as retreat material. I am a psychotherapist and a spiritual director. ...

Hi. I came to know of this book when I was reading thru a few magazines and browsing the net for some book like this. Its so great that I thought it would be more helpful if I let people know what experts in the filed had to say... "What can I say about THE GLOBAL RESUME AND CV GUIDE but WOW! "In the Hands of a Good Providence": Religion in the Life of George Washington
Mary V. Thompson
University of Virginia Press
, 2008
Attempts by evangelical Christians to claim Washington and other founders as their own, and scholars' ongoing attempts to contradict these claims, are nothing new. Particularly after Washington was no longer around to refute them, legends of his Baptist baptism or secret conversion to Catholicism began to proliferate. Mount Vernon researcher Mary Thompson endeavors to get beyond ...

Appropriate and Enjoyable
This book is a great one for reading with neurotypical children who have friends, classmates, and/or siblings on the autism spectrum. It is well written, has nice pictures, and lends itself easily to discussions. I disagree with the person whose review states that the "sterotypical" behavior of the child spinning the frisbee is a negative thing. This is simply one example of a type of sensory ...

The best Book on raising a puppy I've seen
I used to think that I knew a lot about puppies, but I've learned more from this book than from 20 years of raising my own (and reading almost everything I could get my hands on). It's a sensible, readable, and good-natured book that has more information on a page than most books do in a chapter. The next time we have a litter, a copy of this book will accompany each puppy to its new home.

Classic wonderful story
To Have and To Hold is an adventure tale for all ages. My parents read it to my brother and me as a bedtime story when we were 8 and 10 (a bit exciting before sleep yet a good carrot - "settle down if you want to hear more tomorrow"). It has one of the most satisfying villains of all time (one you love to hate), comedy, adventure of all kinds, and - eventually - true romance. It has Indians, ...

Very Well Done
After reviewing and publishing various books in the self-help genre' I have no doubt the average beginner could pick up this book, follow the directions and clear, concise diagrams and produce a craft worthy of displaying for family and friends. Well laid out and a good value to price ratio. Hope to see more from this author.

An Enduring Message For All
This is a wonderful story! Told from the point of view of an older sibling, it portrays realistically the vast array of feelings and emotions that are part and parcel of having a special sibling. Sometimes the older child(ren) inadvertently get lost in the shuffle. Yet the bond between David and Matthew is there and it is strong. Matthew responds to David in a manner that astounds even their ...

Liquid Light
My husband and I stumbled upon Mary Randlett's photography exhibition at the Tacoma Art Museum. We were immediately awed by the beauty and power of her photography. Then I was stunned to see poems by Denise Levertov scattered among the photographs. I'd discovered and loved Denise's poetry a few years earlier. The powerful combination of these two women's visions brought me to tears in the middle ...

Mary of Magdala: Apostle and Leader
Mary R. Thompson
Paulist Pr
, 1995
The name Mary of Magdala conjures up many images--devoted disciple of Christ, penitent and prostitute, to name just a few. Which of these is the real Mary? Was it possible, or even probable, that she was an apostle and leader in the early church? In this fascinating study, Mary Thompson addresses these questions and looks at the image of Mary that has emerged in different guises over the ages.

As an interdisciplinary science and technology studies graduate student, I find this book indispensible for investigations into policy, risk, scientific practice, formation of preferences, the role of surprise in everyday life, and any other social science research.
