Mechanics of Fluids2 reviews
Merle C. Potter, David C. Wiggert

Cengage-Engineering, 2001

It's easy to understand and explain
I used it because I teach in the Santiago Mariņo Politech in Maracay City, but I was surprise that the select problems only have solutions until chapter 8, and I need the rest of the chapter select problems solutions.

Schaum Engineering Thermodynamics (Schaum's Outlines)3 reviews
Merle Potter

McGraw-Hill, 1994

Excellent review
Good book for review. I'm using it to refresh for the PE exam. It sure beats the lengthy text book i used. Very good examples of systems and get to the point quickly. I have Schaum's outline in Control systems, heat transfer, physics among others and this one presents the material the best.

Advanced Engineering Mathematics1 review
Merle C. Potter, J. L. Goldberg, ...

Oxford University Press, USA, 2005

Refreshing in its broad appeal
For many math departments around the country, a good part of course offerings consists of service courses for engineering. As a result, there are lots of textbooks around written to fit a particular niece. And the result is often a fairly narrow focus. This lovely book is refreshing in its broad appeal: advanced engineering mathematics, engineering analysis, or applied mathematics. Designed ...

Engineering Your Future: A Problem-Oriented Approach
Bill Oakes, Les Leone, ...

Great Lakes Press, Inc., 2003

Best-selling college freshman-level textbook designed to introduce students to the study and profession of engineering. The Problem-Oriented version of "Engineering Your Future" contains a subset of chapters taken from the original Comprehensive version of "Engineering Your Future." This Problem-Oriented version eliminates many of the "softer" topics found in the Comprehensive version. Alternatives to this Problem-Oriented version are the ...

Schaum's Outline of Thermodynamics for Engineers, 2nd edition (Schaum's Outlines)2 reviews
Merle Potter, Ph.D., Craig Somerton

McGraw-Hill, 2006

Reorganized and expanded version of a great outline
I found the first edition of the Schaum's outline on Thermodynamics to be quite helpful and complete. Like several other Schaum's outlines it can double as an inexpensive textbook on the subject due to the completeness of the accompanying lecture that comes with each chapter. There are plenty of equations, good illustrations, and excellent worked example problems. The main difference between this ...

Solutions Manual: Principles & Practice of Civil Engineering7 reviews

Great Lakes Press, 2000

Good book, but has lots of mistakes.
More concise than the Lindeburg review book, but with more mistakes. Pays three dollars per substantial mistake sent by mail. I figure that's worth the price of the book.

Jump Start the HP 48G/GX: Featuring Engineering & Science Applications2 reviews
Thomas Adams, Merle Potter

Professional Publications (CA), 2003

learn the basics
The Hewlett Packard 48G family of handheld graphic calculators are superb instruments suffering only from a slow processor and what has become famous as a User Guide useful sole to those who already know how to use the calculator. This book will for the most part clarify things so one can use the User Guide although it can do nothing to speed up the calcified and arthritic slowness of ...

Fundamentals of Engineering : The Most Effective FE/Eit Review (Fundamentals of Engineering, 10th ed.)14 reviews
J. Dilworth, D. Farnum, ...

Great Lakes Press, 2000

Fundamentals of Engineering by Dilworth et al.
This is an excellent book for the Fundamentals of Engineering morning and afternoon session (General Engineering). It has outstanding coverage of electrical circuitry and higher math- particularly differential equations. The coverage of thermo is comprehensive. There are many good problems in statics, dynamics and fluids engineering. This work should cover most of the material you'll need for the ...

Fundamentals of Engineering Review, 11th Edition1 review
E. Case, J. Dilworth, ...

Blue Moose Press, 2003

Good tool to pass the EIT
It basically has review topics and sample tests ... just enough to prepare me and pass the EIT. I can honestly say that I HAVE USED THIS BOOK AND PASSED THE EIT!!

Principles & Practice of Electrical Engineering: The Most Efficient and Authoritative Review Book for the PE ...2 reviews
Merle Potter

Average Book
The textbook covers a wide range of ee and the practice problems are good, but the solutions are very hard to understand.

FE/EIT Discipline Review : Civil, Mechanical, Electrical2 reviews

Great Lakes Press, 2000

Buy carefully
If you are a chemical engineer, this may not be the best book to buy. There is really CD ROM with sample exams, but for only four disciplines. THERE IS NO SAMPLE EXAM FOR ChemE!

FE/EIT Quick Prep/Sample Problems (With CD-ROM)1 review

Great Lakes Press, 2000

No preparation here--just a high price tag
This book is a real disappointment. It offers no discussion or preparatory materials for the FE exam, just a selection of problems from other books by the same publisher. The CDs appear to be repeats of the same problems in the book. No index at all. Many typos and error, starting with the table of contents and continuing on nearly every page. Hard to see how this would help anyone prepare for ...

Fluid Mechanics
Merle C. Potter, John F. Foss

Great Lakes Press, 1982

Master your understanding of fluids! This is a concise study using control volume and differential forms of conservation laws. It proceeds from first principles to general relations to specific applications. Each topic is self-contained so that study can be arranged as desired. Ideal for an intro, senior or intermediate grad level course.

Principles and Practice of Mechanical Engineering Review1 review

Great Lakes Press, 1999

Great Study Book
This book contained all that was needed to study and prepare for the PE exam. I used the book to study for select areas of the test that I would be interested in. I passed the exam with no other study efforts outside using this book. Example problems with solutions manual were very helpful and representative of what was on the actaul exam.

FE/EIT Civil Discipline-Scientific Review for the FE/EIT Exam1 review

Great Lakes Press, 2001

Not a very thorough review
I bought this book over some of the other civil review books because it looked longer and all of the other books had complaints about them. However, now I wish I had ignored those complaints and bought one of the others, because it would be hard for them to be any worse than this book. I would not recommend this as a good review. All of the review topics are VERY brief, most consisting of only ...
