How Bright Is Your Brain?: Amazing Games to Play with Your Mind 1 review Michael A. DiSpezio
Sterling, 2006
A Great Introduction to Our Brain for Children I think it is a great introduction for 9-12 year olds. It is written in a friendly, conversational manner with comic style illustrations. I have been going through this book with my 12, 10 and 8 year olds. We have really enjoyed exploring the many different aspects of our brain.
The book has lots of activities to try; experiments to perform, models to make, riddles to solve... It does ...

Awesome Experiments in Force & Motion 1 review Michael A. Dispezio, 2008
Awesome Experiments in Force & Motion This book contains many great, practical experiments. The materials required to perform these experiments are usually things you would have around your house or classroom. One big problem with this book is the editing. There are many typographical errors and/or misusage of words. As a teacher you would not be able let the students just read the experiment out of the book because of these ...

Super Sensational Science Fair Projects 2 reviews Michael A. DiSpezio
Sterling, 2004
An excellent book for a child's science fair project! This is a great book with simple (meaning that your child does the work...not you) science experiments that teach and can be great science fair projects. I should know as my daughter won using one of the projects from the book. The projects are clearly explained with great drawings and the author explains how to put a science project together in easy terms for both you and your kids.
I highly ...

Optical Illusion Experiments 1 review Michael A. DiSpezio
Sterling, 2001
Excellent activity booklet for young children Optical illusions are one of the most interesting and fun activities that you can engage in. For children, they are fun because they are largely unfamiliar with them and they may be realizing for the first time that your eyes can truly "play tricks" on you. Optical illusions also tell us a great deal about how our eyes and brains combine to gather and interpret information. Things are not always ...

Giant Book of Optical Puzzles 1 review Charles H. Paraquin, E. Richard Churchill, ...
Main Street, 2003
Hours of enjoyment I've seen some of the illusions in this book in the ripleys believe it or not museum. Some of the illusions involve turning a picture upside down and seeing a totally different picture, mazes, those black and white optical illusion spirals that looks like their moving, thinking puzzles and much much more. Worth every cent.

The World's Biggest Book of Brainteasers & Logic Puzzles 3 reviews Norman D. Willis, Paul Sloane, ...
Sterling, 2006
a must buy for logic lovers I just love logic problems that are challenging, yet solvable. This book is really great since it has a variety of math and thinking problems. It is very thick and sure to keep you occupied for a while. I'm not an expert, but I have several very difficult logic books and this one seems fun and not way to hard.It is a good buy. I am really glad I got it.

Science Insights: Exploring Living Things 1 review Michael Dispezio
Addison-Wesley Pub (Sd), 1995
Textbook. This book contains many errors, bad descriptions paried with horrid illustrations, and many other dissapoinments. It may teach you what you need to learn, but not very well at all. I DO NOT reccomend this book. Unless it is required.

California Science Grade 2 1 review Michael J. Bell, Michael A. Dispezio, ...
Harcourt School, 2007
A little flashy for my tastes BTW, if you are looking for this grade level and think the California part means "standards" (a la Standards Edition of Singapore Maths), this book really focuses on California. If that is what you want, fine, but if you aren't in California or if you don't follow the philosophy of teaching family-neighborhood-state-country in the first 4 years of school, this isn't the book for you.
