From traditionally raised prereservation Native to physician
I have read quite a few books on traditional native practices from all over the world (not all of those which claim to teach or describe such practices are accurate, quite a few are misguided or outright frauds). I had come across the name Charles Eastman in bibliographies and indices of those works that featured Native North American practices, and thought he was an anthropologist (white) who ...

Amazing work from Charles Eastman
The author has changed my ideas of who the American Indians are. I was swept away by the descriptions and mesmerized by the spiritual life of a people who were closer to God than I ever imagined. This book should be read at schools and universities. Their history is vital to understand who all of us are.

A classic
This was the first book I could read all the way through when I was in Kindergarten. It's still a great read.

I'll Teach My Dog a Lot of Words
ISBN 0375800999 - While this is an abridged version of the original, and those who are familiar with the original might not like the change, it's well worth picking up because it serves as a nice bridge for the littlest readers to those originals. The narrator, setting out to teach his dog a lot of words, introduces the reader to those words, too! In rhyme, his dog learns actions and ...

For those who like to walk
Talks nicely about architecture and scultures around the city and downtown. Takes you on a series of walking tours that include some of my favorite eclectic things in the city. Has a cosmopolitan perspective. I learned a lot reading Fifield.

Catch 'em while you can
The subtitle to this fascinating book is The End of Main Street and Michael Eastman has taken it upon himself to record as much of it as possible before progress or neglect flattens what's left. Flick through the pages and you'll see more than two hundred shots of small town commonplace. The five chapters (Theaters, Churches, Hangouts, Doors, Signs, Stores, Services, Autos, Hotels and ...

"All right, Ben. Attend me."
"Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl that she used to be. But a great artist-a master-and that is what Auguste Rodin was-can look at an old woman, protray her exactly as she is...and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to ...

Beautiful book!
Words cannot do justice for the photos in this book. Michael Eastman is without a doubt divinely inspired. The photos are emotional, touch the heart, and are genuine artwork. I bought this book for my mother who loves horses, but anyone who appreciates photography will enjoy it. It's a lovely treasure.
