Fantastic Resource!
Michael Fleisher's Encyclopedia of Comic Book Heroes is one of the great tragedies of comics fandom. Exhaustively researched, meticulously cross-referenced and wholly comprehensive, the fact that the project was never completed (There was originally to be seven volumes: Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Captain Marvel , and three other volumes covering various Golden Age characters) depresses ...

Great value, Great everything else, Highly recommended
This is a surprisingly good read at an even more surprising value. The art is black and white, but it looks clear and clean, and great. The paper is lower quality then what you'll find on modern Marvel/DC tradepaper backs but it seems no worse then the kind of paper you get in most Vertigo trade paper backs. And there are a truckload of issues collected. The stories are really cool and ...

Invaluable Tome
This book is an invaluable tome of cross-referenced historical information covering every aspect of Superman's origin, his history, countless other characters in the mythos (including his friends, enemies, and lovers), and the mythology of Krypton. It is a labor of love and deserves to be in print.

An essential collection for an overlooked character
In some respects, the stories are not terribly complex: Ghost Rider travels across the country, chases bad guys and punishes them. However, there is real drama between Johnny Blaze and the Ghost Rider, as the spirit's real personality starts to come to life, and takes a toll on Blaze's personal life. Highly recommended.

Happy to see it back in print
I have an original copy of this great bok. I bought a used copy off of Amazon about a year or two ago.I first read this book as a kid many, many years ago. As a kid this book was a lot of fun to read. It still is. It covers more about Batman than any book out there. You will learn everything you would like to know about the Darknight Detective (From his beginings up until the 70's). I ...

Bold stuff for 35 years ago!
There was a time when Jim Aparo, at the top of his game, was one of the best and brightest in comics and this was well within that era. Bold, frightening and chilling, sometimes exhibiting a black humor that scared off editorial and regardless of sales, they killed the book! A short series to be thoroughly enjoyed.

A great resource/research tool.
Released in the mid-70's, Fleisher was able to do three volumes: Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. These are indepth, intricate books that cover things alphabetically. Informative, interesting, and fun. I wish he had been able to finish the remaining five volumes.

Go Ahead Make My Day
Jonah Hex, DC comics 1970's version of Clint Eastwood's Man with no name character from the Good, The Bad and the Ugly, was a staple in the DC universe. Howeever it also played outside the DC comics realm (Superman, Batman, Justice League, Wonder Woman) as did such characters as Sgt. Rock, The Haunted Tank, and the Losers. He appeared in All Star Western and Weird Western Tales before getting his ...

Now COMPATIBLE with Palm OS 5
I spoke directly with the publisher and both authors by e-mail about the previous problems users had with this great book on Palm OS 5. They assured me that a newer version of the PDA program has been developed and it works fine. I've verified this myself, using both the older, incompatible version and the newer, mobipocket reader-based version on my new Zire 72. The latter version is easy to ...

Wild and extraordinary
What a thought provoking and bizarre story. Fleisher pulls you in with his talented prose until you can't wait for the shocking ending. Interesting characters and situations. I've never read anything like it and can't wait for more from this author.

beautiful, but frustrating
A beautiful but frustrating book. Ditko left a deep impression on me when I was young, and his work is one of the things from my youth that I still enjoy greatly now that I'm deep into middle age. The layout of this book-- the size of the panels, the color, and so on-- is better than the original comics were. But it's a Ditko sampler-- bits and pieces from various phases of his Marvel career, ...
