Carmela LaVigna Coyle, Mike Gordon, ...

Rising Moon, 2003

Great for more than the 4-8 set it says!
My 2 year old loves this book! And it's so wonderful to see a book that says, yeah, be a princess, but that doesn't mean you can be fun and make messes too! You can still be a real person. This book is fantastic!

Why Should I Recycle? (Why Should I?)1 review
Jen Green

Barron''s Educational Series, 2005

Recycling is Great Fun
I taught a lesson using this book and it worked great. I got a lot of positive response from the children on recycling. We started a recycling center in our classroom and it is working great. I have received feedback from the parents as well that they have started their own recycling at home since we started this unit in our classroom. A lot of positive things have come from the use of this book ...

This book is quick and good for children in order to teach them to save water.

Why Should I Protect Nature? (Why Should I?)1 review
Jen Green

Barron''s Educational Series, 2005

Why indeed?
It's a cute idea, but the very short book doesn't have much substance. I was looking for more "meat" to explain outdoor manners to kids on a more environmental scale. Lots of cute illustrations, though.

Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs? (Do Princesses...)10 reviews
Carmela LaVigna Coyle, Mike Gordon

Rising Moon, 2005

FOR ANYONE WHO EVER TOOK A WALK WITH A KID
I truely enjoyed this one, both in it's reading and visually. The little girl in the story is so very, very typical of children her age, both girls and boys, that you are bound to see one of your children, or as in my case, children and grandchildren, in her. The text is rhyming in nature and is quite catching. This is one of those books you must read and see several times. Each time I read ...

Today, some of the most important questions kids ...

The Noisy Airplane Ride4 reviews
Mike Downs

Tricycle Press, 2005

A Great Book for Young Travelers
If you're trying to prepare a young child, or one with Learning Disabilities, for their first airplane ride, this is the perfect book. The illustrations are fun yet accurate, and you can take it on the trip to help your children understand what is happening around them (be sure to read it aloud to them several times and interact with them, if you can. I strongly recommend both this book and ...

Election Day (Ready-to-Read. Level 1)1 review
Margaret McNamara

Aladdin, 2004

Good for 1st grader not an early reader
This book was good for my son who is in 1st grade, but not an early reader. The story line, as in the entire series, is slightly different from other early readers. In this case, a new girl runs for class president. My son loved the campaign promises and the eyes covered secret vote. He was proud to be able to read the book and used it for an optional book report. The illustrations are good ...

Why Should I Listen? (Why Should I? Books)1 review
Claire Llewellyn

Barron''s Educational Series, 2005

Untitled
We all know how toddlers don't want to be scolded or how they say No when we ask them to do something. Well, this book is a non-confrontational way of showing toddlers why they should listen. To make it more relevant to our family, I asked them if they remembered instances when "bad things" happened when the did not listen. My sons love the book and the pictures.

A Tooth Story (Ready-to-Read. Level 1)1 review
Margaret McNamara

Aladdin, 2004

Good for 1st grader who is not an early reader
This book was good for my son who is in 1st grade, but not an early reader. The story line, as in the entire series, is slightly different from other early readers. In this case, one of the students has not lost a tooth yet. Because the boy later loses two teeth in a playground crash, my son loved the book. He was proud to be able to read the book, related to the tooth loss since three of his ...

Younger children don't always understand the importance of sharing, both for their own benefit and the good of their friends and playmates. This book shows and tells them why it is important to share with others. Titles in the enlightening and entertaining Why Should I? series of picture storybooks answer questions that younger boys and girls are likely to ask about a wide range of topics. My Best Friend (My First Reader)1 review
Diane Namm

Children's Press (CT), 2004

Good, more pictures, less words, book
This is a great one if you are looking for very short stories, with larger letters, and more pictures than words. I got this for my daughter before she started kindergarten and she did great with it. There are a few bigger words that are harder for the very new reader such as 'would, could, said' things that don't follow the word rules, but she did great with it.
