Don't Forget I Love You1 review
Miriam Moss

Puffin, 2005

Honey if you love me won't you please please smile?
Some picture books are written to deliver a certain sense of comfort to their preschool readerdom. They might reassure children that no monsters lurk in dark shadows beneath their bed, or that going to school for the first time can be scary but fun. But there's a really basic worry that children feel even if they may not always be able to vocalize it. It's the worry that one's parents no ...

This book is fantastic. The illustrations are beyond beautiful, and the story is so cute. This book tells the story of a little polar bear cub searching for his mother. He gets all of his animal friends, including a fox, rabbit, owl, duck, and more to help him build a mother out of snow. Soon all of his friends have to go home and he is alone, but in the end his mother finds him and he's happy ...

It's My Turn Smudge!1 review
Miriam Moss

Gullane Children's Books, 2002

All Smudge Books
I bought these books for my 3 and 1/2 year old grand daughter for Christmas. She loved the stories of Smudge and his friends. They all teach a lesson, of sharing, moving, being grumpy, plus many others, in a manner that is enjoyable and educational. They provide hours of reading enjoyment for the child and the adult who reads to them. I highly recommend these books for preschool and older ...

This Is the Tree4 reviews
Miriam Moss

Kane/Miller Book Pub, 2005

An amamzing tale of the African Baobab tree
This book is an amazing story of an African Baobab tree through the seasons. My kids love it and we often read it several times at one sitting. The illustrations are rich and colorful, all the plains animals are represented. It's a lovely book which links nature, human and animal life in a realistic and engaging fashion.

Smudge's Grumpy Day (Smudge & Stripe)1 review
Miriam Moss

Gullane Children's Books, 2002

Great book -- cute illustrations
We bought this book through my son's Scholastic book club and it has quickly become a favorite. Even moms and dads can relate to Smudge as her morning goes horribly wrong (stubbed toe, buttons askew)! It's also a great book to illustrate to kids that everyone has a bad day that can get better and that everything will be OK.

This Is The Oasis1 review
Miriam Moss

Kane/Miller Book Pub, 2005

More art than meets the eye
I consider the non-narrative style to be a kind of tone-poem, the language flows so nicely. The information contained in the book is factual, and a simple outline of the main features of an oasis (not as rare a phenomenon as the vast stretches of sand might lead one to believe). The art is lush, mainly in subdued tones, suggesting a fondness for the subject matter. My own illustrations for ...
