I purchased both 1 A and 1 B for a friend who knows nothing about music but wanted to be able to teach her seven year old daughter basic keyboard playing. The books are excellent for this purpose. They are clear, well-paced and make learning fun from the beginning.

Accompaniment CD is not flawed, in fact it can be very useful if used correctly. Read carefully
Some reviews here say the CD is flawed because the recordings are not solo piano demonstrations and can be confusing for the learner. I do not agree with those reviews. A great piano book
The Alfred Basic Piano Library is a wonderful series of books for beginning students. I have taught piano for 11 years, and this series has been very successful with many students! Some favorites of students in Level 2: Alouette, Kumbayah, Ode to Joy, Oh Susannah.

Slightly disappointed!
This was a slight disappointment when I received the flash cards. I bought them to teach my eight year old daughter the musical notes. The flash cards had a note on one side for her to look at and a small one on the reverse for me to look at. The only problem is I don't know the notes either so when she guessed at the note I didn't know if it was right or not. I had to manually look up all 93 ...

Don't order used books!!!
These books are good - as long as you don't get them through this site. The ones I got were the wrong books, and I wasn't given the full refund because they said it was my fault. My fault for using Amazon, I guess.
