Bureau 13: Judgment Night1 review
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2004

Appeals both with its humor and its action.
Nick Pollotta is not as silly as Terry Pratchett, not as hardboiled as Mickey Spillane, and not as serious as Tim Powers. To me, his style seems to be in the middle of a triangle defined by those three writers. Funny without being goofy, and scary without being creepy. His combat scenes are worthy of sequences out of The Matrix. I wonder whether he writes his characters into crazy situations ...

Bureau 13: Doomsday Exam10 reviews
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2006

Personal favorite of mine
I'm a huge fan of gaming novels and this one series is at the top of my favorites list. If you ever wanted to read a novel of a great gaming session this series has that in spades. I, too, find this one even better than the first book (though the still out of print third book "Full Moonster" is my all time favorite). If you've read the Crimson Skies novels or the Dragonlance Chronicles than ...

Bureau 1312 reviews

More Please!
I just discovered the Bureau 13 novels (there are only three of them) and they're fantastic! Laughed until my ribs hurt all the way through. Plus the heroes really have to pay for their victories, they get wounded and major characters die. But more importantly, the characters are a real team, each member gets their time to shine, and while each is a tough hombre, when working together as ...

Invasion from Uranus1 review
Nick Pollotta

Double Dragon Publishing, 2008

Uh...
Um... I don't mean to nitpick, but I've been waiting for a new Nick Pollotta book for a while now, being a huge fan of Beureu 13. So why are you just renaming Tequila Mockingbird?

The 24 Hour War (Endless Quest Gamma World Setting)1 review
Nick Pollotta

Wizards of the Coast, 1995

A darn good Sci-Fi book
This book rules! The choose-a-path story styling is a little obnoxious, but the setting, characters, movement, humor, it's all great! Makes me wish Pollotta did more Gamma World novels.

so glad to see this in print again! If you dont know what the cold war was see update!
So nice to see this puppy back in print! all you folks selling it for 80.00+ go soak your dirty heads! One of the great stories from TSR's heyday. I read this sucker the first time while a senior in high school way back in 89 and it still makes me bust a gut! Fun,wacky and a great read!update 2/18/06 I guess I should add this book is extremely sarcastic, sophmoric and juvenile(it was intended ...

That Darn Squid God17 reviews
Nick Pollotta, James Clay

Wildside Press, 2004

Pollotta does it again
Ok now I am now a totally devoted fanboy of Nick Pollotta. I totally enjoyed the Bureau 13 series and laughed out loud several times during his Illegal Aliens book. This book however takes the cake. I haven't enjoyed a read like this in a long while. The premise is simple Cthullhu tried to destroy the literary verison of Victorian England. Man I had to laugh at all the obscure and not so ...

Bureau 13: Full Moonster9 reviews
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2004

Lunatic plot and crazy action sequences.
Mr. Pollotta writes fight scenes worthy of The Matrix--grand and chaotic. He uses a fair dose of humor, but never so much that the narrative turns goofy. When you read the opening chapter, you will not think my description above applies. He starts each of his Bureau 13 books with a separate scene that sets up the plot, but is not part of it. In these opening chapters, he writes with a ...

Tequila Mockingbird3 reviews
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2007

Painfully pun abound
"Never heard of Nick Pollotta? Join the club. Specializing in SF, mystery and humor - and with sixty published titles under his belt, Nick Pollotta has been plugging away just under the mainstream radar for the last fifteen years, earning a living as a writer and having fun doing it. Tequila Mockingbird is his first collection of humorous (and often painfully punny) short stories. Pollotta's ...

Bureau 13: Damned Nation12 reviews
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2006

A Damned good read
If you've read my reviews you know I'm a fan of Mr. Pollotta. I'm also a fan of the Bureau 13 RPG by Richard Tucholka. That sad, is this great for non-Bureau 13 readers as many of my post-read new Bureau 13 fans can attest. As for old timers and fans this book goes back to the origins of J.P. Withers and the earliest days of the Bureau. Civil War buffs will find the setting and ...

Bureau 13 : #1 Judgment Night10 reviews
Nick Pollotta

Wildside Press, 2000

Tunafish forever!
Big guns and big magic. Ruthless, bizarre villains who do NOT tell the hero their secret plans, and who will happily shoot him in the back. Sexy telepaths, ninjas, characters die, and lots of laughs. This book is as funny as it is exciting. Plus, the main character is Latino. Nearly every book I read has just another white guy saving the world. Maybe with a black sidekick, or a Latino gal ...

Damned Nation
Nick Pollotta

DDP Literary Press, 2008

Amid the fury and chaos of the Civil War, something monstrous is feeding upon the wounded soldiers, leaving behind withered corpses broken and twisted in unimaginable agony. Definitely not the work of a vampire. U.S. Marshall John Sanders is ordered by President Lincoln to stop the hideous deaths. Has the South unleashed a demon from Hell? But the marshall soon discovers that the mysterious enemy has been attacking every fallen soldier in the ...
