Skinwalker4 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Oni Press, 2003

Skinwalkers
It's an interesting mixture of the supernatural and crime drama. Every so often the story pauses for a cultural lesson and those are equally fascinating.

Excellent
I found this book to be even more than I expected out of it, being a comic and all.

New Mutants (Manga New Mutants)3 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir

Marvel Comics, 2005

This Is the New Mutants!
Not the -Ultimate X-Men Vol 8-. Danielle Moonstar returns, a reluctant but willing helper to Professor X ... only to be offered a job as a teacher as the Xavier Institute. Well worth the cost, this tale reunites her w/Karma & [tangentially] Magma, & showcases her essential humanity. Danielle is a reluctant co-worker-to-Prof-er-Charles, unconvinced of her effectiveness even as she talks a toxic ...

Kitchen Princess 2 (Kitchen Princess)1 review
Natsumi Ando, Miyuki Kobayashi, 2008

sweet, but not too mushy
I love Kitchen Princess. It's a great series for kids in their tweenish years and older. I am 40+ and my daughters, teenaged and almost, all really enjoyed it.

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 2: Haunting4 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Marvel Comics, 2005

New X-men Haunting
Each trade of New X-men gets better than the last. This one deals with the younger sister of the mental mutant David visiting her older brother at Professor X's school and wishing to be a mutant herself so she could go to such a cool school. The only problem with her stay is that the ghost of one of the mutant students killed in a previous issue attack is now haunting the school and trying to ...

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 3: X-Posed2 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Marvel Comics, 2006

The drama heats up
This book held my interest so well that I finished it in one sitting. The drama heats up, there's a school dance, and the art is finally consistently good in this book. And as shown on the back cover, The Blob attacks. The back contains a nice 'Yearbook' section that gives short descriptions of all the mutants at the academy. The book that follows this one is the M-Day: New X-Men graphic ...

Destiny's Hand Vol 1 (Destiny's Hand)2 reviews
Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir

Seven Seas, 2006

cool book
I like the book. The artwork was wonderful and the concept is new. I haven't read a good pirate book for a while since reading Captain Blood-which I also liked. I can't wait for Volume 2 to come out. I hope it comes out soon.

Amazing Agent Luna Vol 1 (Amazing Agent Luna)4 reviews
Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir

Seven Seas, 2005

As It Says.... AMAZING!!
At first, even despite the beautiful artwork, I rolled my eyes. "Oh, great, another 'girly secret agent' manga." I thought. And, well, it kinda' is. But it's also more than that! I found the characters cute and believable, the story one that you don't want to put down, and (as I mentioned before) the artwork gorgeous. Yes, some of it is a tad silly and unrealistic--but what secret ...

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 1: Choosing Sides3 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Marvel Comics, 2005

Great series that doesn't get enough attention
I really think that this is one of the most under appreciated of all the X-Men books. For those that don't know, New X-Men: Academy X is a continuation of Marvel's New Mutants series that premiered in 2003. It was relaunched as New X-Men: Academy X so it could be a part of the big X-Men reload event. The writers of New X-Men: Academy X do a good job of keeping the series accessible to readers who ...

House of M: New X-Men -- Academy X1 review
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir

Marvel Comics, 2006

best academy x title so far
collects issue #16-19. i've been fairly disappointed with defillips/weir's run on new mutants v.3/new x-men academy x, but this is the best arc so far. as you prob. know, this title is part of the house of m series which, b/c of the scarlet witch's powers running amok, is basically a chance for marvel to write some "what if?" stories into their main books. in this instance magneto has overcome ...

New X-Men: Hellions TPB (X-Men (Graphic Novels))3 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Clayton Henry, ...

Marvel Comics, 2005

Genuinely Entertaining
Focusing on Emma Frost's "good" Hellions, this tells the story of the Hellions who feature in the New X-Men (Academy X) series. While the plot hinges on an often used hook, it serves extremely well in letting us get to know the characters. There's also a character that reminds me of Calypso from the Twisted Metal games (which I consider a bonus). The artwork is a "fun" cartoony, not detracting ...

The Tomb2 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christopher J. Mitten

Oni Press, 2004

A great book.
It is basically a B&W comic book. Its like a cross between a female Indiana Jones and a ghost story. I liked it.

Once In A Blue Moon Volume 15 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Oni Press, 2004

Once in a Blue Moon
WOW - What a terrific story! The authors really know how to layout a story that it interesting, suspenseful and one that kids can relate to while enjoying fantasy. I bought this as a gift for my nephew and he loved it so much, I bought 4 more to give as gifts and they are all big hits! I have been asked: When will Volume II be out? I don't know. When? This would make a terrific movie.

Maria's Wedding2 reviews
Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, ...

Oni Press, 2003

I don't know what that other idiot is talking about
Assuming you can stand an acknowledgement that yes, there are gay couples in the world, this is a very good little graphic novel that captures the feel of a family gathering very well. It definately reminds me of the last three I've been to! By the end you do feel like you know this family and can identify with the main character's conflicting feelings of love and frustration with them. The ...
