The Narrow Passage.1 review
Oliver Butterworth

Little Brown & Co (T), 1973

Good YA book, unjustly neglected
I recently got this to read to my ten-year-old son for bedtime storytime. He had enjoyed "The Enormous Egg" (as what ten year old boy wouldn't?), and I had hopes for Narrow Passage. Well, it's a very different story. Less overtly fantastical, better written IMHO, and with a very moving theme underlying it all. It's basically about the end of childhood, and saying goodbye to the magic of ...

"It's eating the U.S. Government out of house and home!" When Nate hears the fate that is planned for his pet, he is desperate. How can he save it? ...

Can't wait !
When I was in the 5th grade, about 34 years ago, my teacher read this book out loud to the class. We laughed & loved it so much. I've been thinking about this book and was so excited when I found it on Amazon. I plan to read it to my 7-year-old son. I'm sure he'll love it. I can't believe it's still in print.
