A enchanting tale
This is one of favorite series. After lending this book out and never getting it back, I was recently able to order it again and it is still great 15 years after I read it the first time. Would definetley recommend to anyone who likes fantasy with humor. m.a.c

A Superb Sequel and A Wonderful (and acceptable) Romance
I found 'The Magician's Ward' and excellent and satisfying sequel to 'Mairelon the Magician.' Kim is much more mature in this book, and her friendship with Mairelon is a bit closer than in the last. Of course, as anyone who read the first has probably guessed, both start to have feelings for one another in a different sort of way. Now, to clear up any misunderstandings: A ward is NOT the same as ...

Wonderful!
_Harp_ is lovely, enchanting, sad, and very well-written. While surely not at humorous as Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles, it has very good dialog and characterization. I liked it largely because I am a harpist myself (the hero is a minstrel), so if you like music I'm sure you'll like this book. I read it twice without pause between :)

the ending makes the book
First of all, speaking up for the "young readers" whose abilities seem to be taken so lightly by other reviewers...Any kid who actually is a "reader" will have no trouble with this book. I didn't. For me, the ending was what made this book get 5 stars. I have read and reread the book, and every time end up reading the ending out loud to myself, complete with voices to fit each character, and ...

Jedi Adventures
In the book Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones you will find Jedi fighting the dark side. My favorite parts are when Jango Fett and Obi-Wan fought on Komino. Also, the execution and the war on Genosis. Finally, I like the light saber fight at the end. I recommend this fictional book because this book is adventuresome, unpredictable, and shows exitement through out the novel. If you ...

Mairelon the Magician/Magician's Ward
This is the collected edition of Wrede's series that starts with Mairelon the Magician and hopefully doesn't conclude with Magician's Ward (I really, really want to see more of this wonderful historic fantasy. If you liked Harry Potter, if you like Historical Fantasy, if you enjoyed any of Wrede's other works; this is a good two-book compiliation for you.

The beginning of the Star Wars saga...
Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the prequel to the original Star Wars Trilogy, tells of the beginning of the Sith, Dark Sidious's plan to topple the Republic and create the Dark Empire. The start of his plan begins with the Trade Federation's invasion of the small peaceful planet of Naboo, which Dark Sidious thinks will be very easy to take over, for the ruler is only a very young 14-year-old ...

Love the characters!
Mendenbar and Cimorene, now married for just over a year, are celebrating the news of their first baby on the way when witch Morwen and sorcerer Telemain arrive on their moat-step with some disturbing news and a 6 foot blue rabbit/donkey named Killer. The wizards are, once again, up to no good. Upon investigating the source of Killer's unusual size, Morwen discovered more brown patches where ...

For readers after "The Enchanted Forest Chronicles"
I'll admit, Wrede is one of those authors that can make me enjoy reading silly fantasy in this world of horrible, trashy fantasy. It's just so much fun. "Book of Enchantments" is no exception. This book of ten short stories (and one delightful recipe) is very different from Wrede's series "The Enchanted Forest Chronicles". Some stories take place in the same world (the best story has our ...

Another 4 1/2 for this fun sequel
"The Grand Tour" is a sequel. But wait! Before you fall back hopelessly upset and disappointed, read on. Because "The Grand Tour" is just as fun as its predecessor. It's still witty, charming, and enjoyable. But in a slightly different way. Unlike "Sorcery and Cecelia", "The Grand Tour" has one complete story. It is not the casually fun back-and-forth between our two now-beloved cousins, but ...

Magic and intrigue in the British countryside
It's 1828, 10 years since the eventful honeymoon trip chronicled in The Grand Tour, and James and Cecy Tarleton and Thomas and Kate Schofield have settled down to a quiet and contented life in the country. The Tarletons have four children--twins Arthur and Eleanor, nine; Diana, four; and Alexander, an infant. The Schofields have two sons, Edward, six, and baby Laurence. Then the gentlemen's ...

The Most Origional Take on Magic I've ever read
In most fantasy novels one reads, magic is an accepted form of making things happen. But not in this novel. Here, to do magic is to be a witch. To be a witch is to burn at the stake. Wrede's story follows a young girl, whose parents were burned as witches and herself sold to pay for their debts. And then she meets strangers who come to the inn where she works, strangers who are more than ...

Caught in Crystal
Caught in Crystal is the story of Kayl and of how she learns that you can't run from your past; you must face it to put the evil memories to rest. The story starts out on a slightly unusual day for Kayl, who is currently working as an innkeeper with her two father-less children. Kayl is sweeping the front steps when a grand visitor appears, which doesn't often happen in this small town. This ...

The intellect's fairy tale
I myself have not read any of Wrede's other ouvre, but I first read this novel when I was a sophmore in college. The story was engaging, although I wasn't certain about the diction at times. The presentation kept me hooked and open a new interest for me. My old copy is battered and worn, but I hope the book will be released again so that I may replace my beloved copy.
