Definitely Worth Your Time
This book is wonderful reading for anyone in the healing professions. It offers insight into aspects of healing one probably has not considered. I offered it to my mother, who has had orthopedic problems since childhood. I was certain she would find it interesting. However, she said the reading was "too difficult".

A Good Collection
I read the first collection, The Firebird, and feel in love all over again with Megan W. Turner and for this book, in addition to my already favorite authors, it introduced me to more of authors whose styles I like very much. First of all is Ellen Klages, with 'In The House of the Seven Librarians'. I love her prose and all the words make a nice song in my head. It was almost like a poetry. ...

Inspirational
I first read this book at age 22 as required reading in a college women's studies class. It's themes: dieting, aging, the beauty myth, femininity and how women perceive their bodies individually and culturally, affected me and caused me to reflect on the abuse i had inflicted upon myself in my desire to be thin. Almost a decade later, i still have my dog-eared copy that i have reread many ...
Just Beneath My Skin: Autobiography and Self-Discovery
Patricia Foster
University of Georgia Press
, 2004
Writing about oneself, says Patricia Foster, "engages in truth but depends on the imagination, on the life just beneath the skin, a life that's impressionistic and fragile." These eleven closely linked personal essays are at once an absorbing chronicle of a life fully undertaken and a model for anyone who has contemplated self-investigation through autobiographical writing. The book's three sections each convey a stage of Foster's journey - ...

During the 1990s a number of artists claimed the exhibition as their medium. Working independently or in various collaborative constellations, they eschewed the individual object in favor of the exhibition environment as a dynamic arena, ever expanding its physical and temporal parameters. For these artists an exhibition can comprise a film, a novel, a shared meal, a social space, a performance or a journey. Their work engages directly with the ...

One good course deserves another and these recipes are way above par. This book approaches good food from a golfer's perspective, with recipes for "hooks", "slices", "birdies", "sandtraps" and "greens", among others; from the practice tee (appetizers) to the 19th hole (drinks). Great cartoons and great food entice golfers on every hole (chapter). This is the ideal gift for every duffer and gourmet. 6" x 9"; 20 line drawings; 4 color ...

Fisherwoman
Diaries are diaries. They're often of not much interest to anyone but the author. Muriel Foster kept a diary of her fishing expenditions beginning in 1913. She recorded her catches with infinite detail; her ones-that-got-away with unashamed blank lined pages. And she painted. Tiny, perfect little watercolours that embellish each page - you can get lost in them. Some paintings are entire scenes ...

Absolutely Beautiful Watercolor Sketchbook and Diary
I am a watercolorist and found this book mesmerizing for it's beautiful sketches and paintings of fish, lures, landscapes, and animals. The entries date from 1913 to 1949. It is an accounting book with detailed and stunning illustrations showing the dates the artist fished, the place (where caught) the lures he used (beautifully illustrated lures), the kind of fish caught and how many and their ...
