An Octopus Is Amazing (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science, Stage 2)3 reviews
Patricia Lauber

HarperTrophy, 1996

Octopus's Garden
I liked this book because I learned alot of facts. The pictures were really cool and I liked learning how they disguise themselves and how the mother octopus lays here eggs near her den where she can watch them. It is sad because she dies after the babies hatch. I recommmend this book for all ages.

Volcano: The Eruption and Healing of Mount St. Helens2 reviews
Patricia Lauber

Volcano: The Eruption and Healing of Mount St. Helens
This nonfiction book is about volcanoes. It tells about the events leading to the erruption of Mount St. Helens. It describes, in exciting detail, the actual erruption and the eventual rebirth of the volcano. The photographs are great. They help to tell the story along with the words so that you can get a feel for the total destruction and devastation caused by the erruption. The nice thing ...

Painters of The Caves (National Geographic Society)2 reviews
Patricia Lauber

National Geographic Children's Books, 1998

Artist Approved!
My artwork is inspired by the cave paintings of Lascaux, France, and this is *the* book I take with me to shows and exhibits to explain my work. Although supposedly geared for elementary age readers, I find the book an excellent, coherent overview to this amazing art. The photographs are first-rate. The modern paintings of imagined scenes from the past are well done--attractive, detailed, ...

What You Never Knew About Beds, Bedrooms, & Pajamas (Around-the-House History)1 review

Be a Friend to Trees (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out, Stage 2)
Patricia Lauber

HarperTrophy, 1994

Why should you be a friend to trees? Trees are a valuable natural resource. People depend on trees for food, and animals depend on trees for food and shelter. But most important, we depend on trees because they add oxygen, a gas we all need, to the air. While trees give us many wonderful products, we must also protect them because we can't live without them.

Spaceship Earth - book to read on Earth Day
Consisting of thirty-two pages we begin You're Aboard Spaceship Earth by viewing a shuttle blasting off into space. For anyone living in Florida this is an awesome sight to take in as well as listening as the shuttle orbits. Gave my kids a new appreciation for utensils
This book takes a humorous, illustrated look at the history of eating habits. It educates, while simultaneously poking fun at ancient and modern affectations associated with the dinner table. It starts and ends with a primitive family who are just beginning to make use of fire. It gives brief descriptions of eating customs and utensils in different cultures over the centuries. Seeing Earth From Space (Orchard Paperbacks)2 reviews
Patricia Lauber

Scholastic, 1994

great book!
The book shows a lot of unusual picture showing our planet. It made me understand the Earth more easier while I'm reading the facts written in the book. Also, because of the great picture on the book, it made it more fun and interesting to read. The book also, asked the readers to help our planet live by taking care of the environment which makes it a great and good book. I have learned a lot. I ...

What You Never Knew About Tubs, Toilets, & Showers (Lauber, Patricia. Around-the-House History.)5 reviews
Patricia Lauber

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2001

Another great book by this author/illustrator team!
After I had read their book on the history of dining, I couldn't wait for this one. Tubs, Toilets and Showers handles the awkward subjects of what you do in the bathroom and how people used to do it. It has vignettes from several cultures and time periods. Many children (and some adults) will be surprised to learn that the Europeans came to value cleanliness much later than did many other ...

Purrfectly Purrfect: Life at the Acatemy1 review
Patricia Lauber

HarperTrophy, 2001

Purrfect Read!
At school, I just read this book and I loved it. It has a great plot, and what I liked most about it is the play on words. It changes words like "academy" into "acatemy".It also showed copies of essays cats had written too! Last of all, I thought it was great how each cat had its own personality! It was easy to read, and great for kids (and parents too!)of all ages. I definitely recommend this ...

Clarence, The TV Dog1 review
Patricia Lauber

Scholastic Book Services, 1971

A very cute and humorous book.
I read this story over and over as a young girl and I saved my well-worn copy to pass along to my kids. I just recently read Clarence The TV Dog to my 8 year-old son and he enjoyed it just as much as I had. Clarence was a real dog and the book is about the fun little adventures he had in his home and neighborhood with his owners, a young boy and girl and their mother. The author wrote on the ...
