Public Health Informatics and Information Systems1 review

Springer, 2002

Excellent introduction and review
The publication of this book has been highly anticipated by many in the emerging field of public health informatics and it does not disappoint. Although seemingly targeted at those new or recently introduced to the discipline, or those "crossing over" from other areas within the broader informatics arena, content is very well-suited for all comers, with sufficient detail to satisfy even those ...

Qt Programming for LINUX and Windows 2000 (Hewlett-Packard Professional Books)17 reviews
Patrick Ward

Prentice Hall PTR, 2000

Good stuff
I'm new to Qt but I have played with it before I bought this book. At first I thought the book was trying to be a Qt reference manual until I got to the part where Ward explains what it's for: A different organization of way too much Qt information. It does that OK. What I really like is that the examples applied to what I'm trying to get done. When does the new book come out? Cover QFtp!

The Car Washing Street1 review
Denise Lewis Patrick

Tambourine, 1993

Incredible
I know the author's son personally and can say that this book is definitely written after him. He is a trouble maker at birth and remains such throughout his life. Within the context of the book, Denise is very descriptive but not descriptive enough so as to confuse any of the children reading the books. Excellent job by Denise and another excellently written book.

Exile, Emigration and Irish Writing
Patrick Ward

Irish Academic Press, 2001

In the 19th century, particularly in the post-Famine years, millions left Ireland and they were preceded by vast numbers in previous centuries. The leaving of Ireland - see as "exile", is as Irish as the shamrock and the shillelagh. For the writer, the experience was virtually obligatory, yet in spite of the scale of emigration, the size of the Irish diaspora and the fact that almost every Irish writer of note left Ireland permanently or ...
