I am a Physics major who finished my classical physics sequence and Tipler's volume of Classical Physics text is fantastic. Volume 2 focuses on Electricity, Magnetism, and Light. The text is clear, the problems are great. The biggest advantage to this text is its format. It has great pictures and amazing examples. This expansive book covers almost all areas of physics. It has incredible detail often doing full derivations with calculus. To facilitate this there are also many examples. Well-thought problems accompany every chapter, with answers to a few. The first equation that you see in this book is that "Tipler= Quality" At first, this seems a little pompous and presumptuous. But it is alas, oh so true. When I first started physics this year, I had no experience of calculus. I thought taking a physics course based in calc was going to be hard. Decent text, unacceptable number of solutions errors
The text is fairly straightforward and example problems are very helpful. The multitude of end-of-chapter problems are helpful as well, but the problem solutions in the back of the book have a particularly high number of errors.
