Tipler's Classical Physics Text is The best
I am a Physics major who finished my classical physics sequence and Tipler's volume of Classical Physics text is fantastic. Volume 2 focuses on Electricity, Magnetism, and Light. The text is clear, the problems are great. The biggest advantage to this text is its format. It has great pictures and amazing examples. Here is what makes Tipler's text in my mind better than Serway or H&R. There ...

Physics for Scientist and Engineers 4.01 review

Don't buy the CD!
The CD is a mostly just a copy of the book's web site. It doeshave some additional info, as well as being faster. But, I believe very few people will find even the free web site to of much value, let alone a paid for CD.

Tipler's General Physics of Champions
This expansive book covers almost all areas of physics. It has incredible detail often doing full derivations with calculus. To facilitate this there are also many examples. Well-thought problems accompany every chapter, with answers to a few. This book gives an incredible introduction to physics if taught properly, and can also act as a reference after the introductory course.

Solutions Manual for Students Vol 1 Chapters 1-21: to Accompany Physics for Scientists and Engineers 4e
Good book for people taking a class requiring it the book. It is a little hard to understand why certain problems are done the way they are. Overall a good book to help you solve problems and determine whether you had the right thought process.

Who needs a teacher when they've got this...?
First off, this review is driven by pure gratitude to both authors of this excellent text. This is that Book on Physics that grips and drags you along. No prerequisite knowledge is even necessary as the book assumes you the reader is uneducated on the topics and takes you right from scratch to the very peak (literally). It all depends on the purpose which you desire it to serve. It is a ...

Physics for Scientists and Engineers: Standard Version2 reviews
Paul A. Tipler, Gene Mosca

W. H. Freeman, 2003

Captivating!
Reading university course material generally involves wading through dry, factual textbooks which fail to spark interest. I was pleasantly surprised by Tipler. Very pleasantly, in fact. The content is divided into sensible sections (Mechanics, Oscillations and Waves, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Light, and Modern Physics) and the layout very clear and readable. I felt that the ...

Physics1 review
Paul A. Tipler

Worth Publishers, 1976

Excellent if you only need this part of the volume
The item was very helpful. It is only the first part of the whole edition: The electricity part, so if you are looking only for a part of the whole, this version will be the best option for you. Includes everything from practice problems and equations to answers on the back.

Very excelent.
The first equation that you see in this book is that "Tipler= Quality" At first, this seems a little pompous and presumptuous. But it is alas, oh so true. When I first started physics this year, I had no experience of calculus. I thought taking a physics course based in calc was going to be hard. I was wrong, as Tipler's explinations were so well done that I found the math to be easy. ...

Physics for Scientists and Engineers, Volume 2: Electricity, Magnetism, Light, and Elementary Modern Physics ...1 review

Decent text, unacceptable number of solutions errors
The text is fairly straightforward and example problems are very helpful. The multitude of end-of-chapter problems are helpful as well, but the problem solutions in the back of the book have a particularly high number of errors. With most science texts, one might expect an error here or there, generally one or two errors per book, but in this book I find one or two (sometimes more) errors per ...

Modern Physics18 reviews

Modern Physics is Modern Physics
I kind of understand some frustration expressed by some people about this book or any other Modern Physics textbook. However, there are something we should be aware of before just complaining about this. 1. Almost any, if not all, Modern Physics textbook is like this book in that they state something without very much and clear enough explanation or write down calculations omitting seemingly ...

Not worth it
This solutions manual gives exact answers but the explaination is so vague that it's not worth it to even buy it. Ask anyone else they'll give you more of an answer than this book.
