ABC Bouncy Boxes and Board Book1 review

Anytime Books, 1995

2 to 4 year olds ADORE this "surprise"!
This "book" is great for learning your ABC's, but what kids just adore is the way the boxes FLY out of the box when you open it. It's surprisingly durable. The down side is that an adult has to flatten all the blocks and put them back over and over and over ... kids never tire of watching those blocks fly through the air!

The Christmas Bear4 reviews
Henrietta Stickland

Puffin, 1998

richly illustrated, feel good story
This is a beautifully illustrated, kid friendly book. It helps to point out that though Christmas presents are fun, the true spirit of Christmas is family. The pages of this book are so bright and detailed that a child can spend days pointing out new things.

Buddy Bear (Plush Teddy Board Books)1 review
Paul Stickland

Egmont Childrens Books, 1996

Buddy Bear
My mom purchased the book a long time ago. Christine came to visit. She said he didn't come off. He stayed on. But I pulled him off the book. My dad said we could sew him back on, but I decided not to.

Big Dig1 review

Ragged Bears, 2005

Awesome Book!
My 2-year old son absolutely LOVES construction equipment & pop-up books so this is the PERFECT combination! When I saw it in the bookstore, I knew he had to have it! He's always loved for us to read to him but this is the first book he's gotten EXCITED about in a long time. For the first two weeks we read it, it actually got him all hyped up at bed time, instead of helping him wind down ...

Machines as Tall as Giants1 review
Paul Stickland

Puffin, 1996

Our 3-year-old LOVES it (we do, too)!
Our 3-year-old son loves this book, which displays and describes a different "machine" (e.g. cranes, a car crusher, a telescope, the shuttle) with each turn of the page. We like it too, which makes it easier to read over and over and...

One Bear, One Dog6 reviews
Paul Stickland

Dutton Juvenile, 1997

Simple, catchy text for youngsters with surprise at the end
My daughter (2 years) loves this book. She can recite the book from cover to cover and delights in finding new words to describe the lively animals. She never gets enough of the surprise at the end and always wants to read the book again so that she can look at herself in the mirror. An excellent choice to start youngsters on their reading journey.

Dinosaur Stomp!11 reviews
Paul Stickland

Dutton Juvenile, 1996

The best Strickland work
My kids loved this cute story and the beautiful illustrations so much we wore out 3 copies. It went to the hospital with one child, went to show-and-tell with a couple of them. It came on vacations. We had to carry it in the car at all times and read it at bedtime every day. It's a great children's work.

Ten Terrible Dinosaurs4 reviews
Paul Stickland

Ragged Bears, 1997

Excellent for preschoolers!
"Ten terrible dinosaurs standing in a line..." I haven't read this book to my three year old son in several months yet the words are still memorable. One of his preschool teachers had brought it in and it was an instant hit with the class! It introduces young children the concept of counting backwards. Also, with the bright colors and action words a young child's vocabulary may be ...

Big Dig: A Pop-Up Construction Ragged Bears2 reviews
Paul Stickland

Ragged Bear, 2002

Great Pop-up for a 2 year-old
My 2 year old son loves this book. He has learned all of the different names of construction equipment from it. The pop-ups are quite elaborate and very well done. Our son does need close supervision when turning the pages, so this book wouldn't be suitable for a very young baby. The previous reviewer would have enjoyed the book more if she/he had introduced the book later.

Dinosaur Roar Board Book and Finger Puppet3 reviews
Paul Stickland, Henrietta Stickland

Dutton Juvenile, 1998

Great book
My two year old daughter has had this book for just over a year and it's still one of her favourites. I think the puppet is supposed to be a finger puppet for the parent so it will be too small for your child to fit their whole hand into. We quickly lost the puppet but the book is great. She's memorized the whole thing and it's one of the few books where she finishes thesentences for me.
