Meadowbrook, 2000

BEST BOOK ON SLUMBER PARTIES!
This book was the best book I have ever read on slumber parties. With 25 different ideas, you are bound to find at least a couple that suit your daughter's needs. Also, some of these parties can apply to boys, like the circus party and sorcerer's magic party. Each party idea has ideas for invitations, movies (with the ratings) to watch, what people should bring, decorations, games, activites, ...

Dead Body Language8 reviews
Penny Warner

Bantam, 1997

funny, entertaining and accurate
As a deaf person, I was hesitant to pick up this book because many books written about deaf individuals are inaccurate. However, this book is a very accurate portrayal of a deaf character. Not only that, Conor is a funny, gutsy and likeable character. The book ended much too soon for me and I'm off to buy her other 3 books now!

Dead Man's Hand4 reviews

Read My Lips -- And This Book
Weekly newspaper editor Connor Westphal is a Kinsey Millhone with fewer hang-ups. She's independent almost to the point of pushing other people away and lives in a quirky home in a small California town. Connor is also deaf. This allows author Penny Warner a chance to give readers a glimpse of deaf culture. Unlike Kinsey Millhone however, Connor has let both a hearing-ear dog and a gorgeous ...

Sign of Foul Play4 reviews
Penny Warner

Bantam, 1997

A good mystery with a protagonist with a twist.
I read mysteries as a way to relax in between all the serious writing and reading I do for science education for the Deaf community. So it was with great joy that I found these little gems by Penny Warner. She writes about a Deaf woman who runs a newspaper. Now first off, this is unheard of--pardon the pun, for a Deaf person to be perceived as having the intelligence to do something other than ...
