An Unsung Gem
(...) For me, this book was amazing and much more potent than say Alan Paton's Cry the Beloved Country. In fact, the two do not necessarily warrant comparison except for the fact that Paton's book is the only classic South African novel that is ever considered part of the World Lit canon taught in U.S. schools, which is a damn shame because the African continent--like the others--has produced ...

The Case Book of Ingrid Levin-Hill
Once again Peter Abrahams returns to the world of Echo Falls, where young Ingrid Levin-Hill is just trying to get by, navigating the slippery slopes of being a kid in the 21st century. While basically she's got a warm and protective family, there's always some friction going on, just like real life. In this book Ty's problem with anabolic steroids becomes more and more the center of Ingrid's ...

Helpful Insightful Medical Information
This is one of the best medical books I own describing how the human body is designed and functions together. Wonderful illustrations (most 3D) and easily understood terminology and for under $10! WOW 512 pages.... Very, very helpful for students or for those of us with medical problems that we are trying to understand. Strongly recommend this book from this author (Dr. Peter Abrahams). ...

Great characters, enjoyable escape reading
I love this whole series. I think it (the series) makes for a great "escape reading". Get away from it all and sink into the adventures of this young girl in Echo Falls. I would recommend it to both kids and adults.

Abrahams, the Consummate Pro
In an interview, Peter Abrahams once said that his one main rule for writing is, "Do something original on every page." NERVE DAMAGE is another excellent illustration of this rule in practice. The story of an artist racing against terminal illness to discover the truth behind his wife's death, the novel is insanely smart and furiously compelling with dialogue that crackles like a sparkler; but ...

Excellent atlas
This atlas is the best imaging atlas I have encountered to date in a price range suitable for medical students. The illustrations are of superb quality, and cover a wide range of images, including CT scans, MRIs, angiograms, etc. The only real limitation of the atlas is that it does not cover any pathological anatomy. We have used the Barrett atlas for MRIs in the past, but will probably ...

A great resource
I really enjoyed the amount of detail in books such as these. My only trigger is that you will find some information lacking. I have yet to find a whole anatomy book with EVERYTHING. Ofcourse I do have to emphasize that you'd need a special need to have more detail than the info available here. Overall, its pretty clear and informative. Highly recommended.

Captivating Mystery Series
I am an adult who was an avid fan of Nancy Drew as a child. This series is fabulous on many counts. At the center of the story we have a brave and oh-so-resourceful 13-year-old GIRL, Ingrid, who seems to me very realistic. Echo Falls, her town, is a magical place that is a kind of Everytown-- you might want to move there yourself. As the mysteries unfold, Ingrid is trying to learn her way around ...

AWESOME
This is one of the best ideas for a collection that I have ever come across. The stories are as different from one another as can be, with the common thread being that each has a character who stays up all night for some reason. Strong writers, strong material, what's not to love about this book????

Heir to Ira Levin
Not that Ira Levin is gone or anything, but his output has slowed considerably now that he is in old age. In any case, though he isn't quite as good as Levin, Abrahams is very close to being so, and that's a tall order I wouldn't have believed any other American suspense novelist to be capable of. In Abrahams' case, his plots are a little less organic than Levin's, not quite so high concept, ...

Becoming My Favorite Author
Peter Abrahams is becoming my favorite author. This is the second book of his I have read (the first being,Oblivion ) and it is really hard to put down. Whenever you sit and wonder why on earth women fall in love with conflicts, you can think about this story and, on some small level, understand. This (like Oblivion) is a smart, sexy thriller that keeps you on the edge of the seat.

Most original plot line
This is a book that you begin reading again as soon as you finish. Petrov starts and Nick solves the case. The same detective, the same investigation, 2 different perspectives. The book deserves 5 stars even though some of the subplots are so farfetched that they detract, rather than add to the line.

Nice, tight and fast read
I had never heard of Peter Abrahams until I saw his name mentioned four times in the recommended authors section of the Stephen King book "On Writing". Since then I have become a fan. "Lights Out" is typical of Abrahams' free flowing easy to read style and the length of this book, and infact most of his books, allow for a good 5 to 6 hour read. The juxtaposition of past and present in this novel ...

Entertaining read with some minor flaws
I discovered Peter Abrahams when I read his newest novel, Oblivion, last year; I became so engrossed in this book that I finished it in a day. Only recently did I realize that Abrahams has a large body of previous works, and so Crying Wolf was my first sampling of what else he had to offer. Although I found this novel also to be very readable and entertaining, it lacked the thrilling, exciting ...

A suspenseful page-turner
Meet the Gardners, a typical American family: father Scott works in the family business, resents his older brother, and longs to find a quick path to wealth; mother Linda is harried, trying to juggle work and family life while pinning her dreams of a better future on her kids; teenage son Brandon is rebellious, experimenting with drugs and alcohol; pre-teen daughter Ruby is precocious, escaping ...
