Disciple & Master 4 reviews
Fotofolio, 2000
Stunning achievement A book that will satisfy both the avid fans of Joel Peter Witkin's art and newcomers to this modern genius' output. We earn more about influence and process than we ever thought we would know. This beautifully presented volume is both an homage to Witkin's mentors and a celebration of his gifts as Master of the Bizarre. A fine addition to the volumes on Witkin and to the library of Fine Art ...

Modulation of Host Gene Expression and Innate Immunity by Viruses 1 review
Springer, 2005
review While the molecular mechanisms of antibody production and diversity and of cellular specific immune responses have been studied since many decades, the actions of viruses blocking and modifying the innate immune system, i.e. mainly the interferon (IFN) response and its various signaling pathways, have been recognized and studied in more detail only during the last 10-15 years. Viruses can ...

Governance, Politics and the State 2 reviews
Palgrave Macmillan, 2000
Governance, Politics and the State---a great overview While it is far from perfect, this book offers one of the best looks at governance today. These two parse the maze of what we know as governance with as much ease as the best of them. This is a must read for anyone interested in the subject. While it is no exciting page turner of a novel, but that is not anything anyone would expect from a book like this, is it?

Duchamp & Co 2 reviews Pierre Cabanne
Rizzoli Publications, 1997
DADA's Duchamp Finding myself writing an art exam and short of information on the art movement Dada and works of Marcel Duchamp, I resorted to the local library where I found this amazing book on just that. The book takes the reader through Duchamp's Futurist days to where he ended, one of the greatest contempory artist's of the 21st century. The colour photographs are amazing, and it is visually as ...

Lamb (Fold Out Floor Books) 2 reviews
Fun Fax, 1999
A storytime success The clear photos with humorous cartoon-like embellishments are very appealing to kids. Though the fold-out design makes it tricky to share the book with a group, the question-and-answer format holds kids' attention. I was able to withhold the book's "gimmick"-- the large, full-length picture of the lamb-- until the very end when I used it with my library storytime groups.

Development Macroeconomics 2 reviews Pierre-Richard Agenor, Peter Montiel
Princeton Univ Pr, 1995
An illuminating offer for macroeconomics scholars This book by Agenor and Montiel has succeeded to a large extent in their objective of integrating macroeconomic theory with the issues of the less developed countries. Proves to be an useful book which could be a decent alternative to the various textbooks in macroeconomics which are divorced of the diverse features of the less developed countries. Indeed an asset for the subject and the ...

5 Continents Editions, 2006
Expressions in Stone of Pre-Colombian America This book is an impressive introduction to the art in stone of the Pre-Colombian world. As such it complements the many publications covering the broad range of Pre-Colombian art.
The approach chosen, one of an in depth review of a single, exceptional and very high standard collection makes the book more than a mnere documentation of artifacts brought together in one place.
The respective ...
