Great Books!
All of the Easy Words To Read series are fantastic for children just learning phonics. My reading delayed and dyslexic students finally have something fun to read. Great illustrations, nice little story line and best of all, they are made up of mostly phonetic words that repeat. This repeation and phonetic approach is of major importance when instructing young readers with reading difficulties. I ...

Great book for Kids
This is a hilarious book, that I initially bought because my son is named Jack. Both my kids (3 and 1) love this book. It has great pictures, rhyming words, and a message about what happens to kids who are not very nice. We loved this book so much that we bought the others-Don't be a Bully Billy!, Don't tell Lies Lucy!, and Don't be Greedy Graham!. I highly recomend this for toddlers and ...

Great Fun for All Ages
My daughters are 6 years old and, we just discovered these books. They absolutely love them and, so do I. These are fun and original - they make reading fun for everyone. Thanks to the authors and illustrators. The pictures are adorable, too. It's hard to find books with great stories and pictures but, these have it. Thanks again. We hope to get the entire series. ...

My son's current favorite
I know others have commented on the hyperbole of the endings in this series possibly being a poor message for youngsters but I wonder if these same people don't read any fairy tales? In this one, the bad kid doesn't die but does have to live with pigs because he is so greedy. As a teacher, I was original drawn to these books because of the reading methodology is sound with the repetition of ...

learn to read
My 6 year old daughter brings home books from school to read with repetitive sentences and some difficult words (which she uses pictures clues to figure out). I'm sure this is helping her learn to read, but I can't help notice that she basically memorizes the book. Other easy readers have many 2 or 3 syllable words which she finds difficult to sound out. This is a great book for teaching some ...

It Had Been Years...
It had been several, several years since I had read this book. Well, "reading" is sort of exaggerating as that is a small part of it. I found myself once more delving into the very elaborate pictures, admiring each and every detail in the scenarios. The way the book was designed and the very visual nature would make it perfect for young and inquisitive minds. It had that effect on me when I ...

Fabulous!
My 9-year old is interested in atoms and molecules, but I didn't know enough answer his second level of questions until I spent 20 minutes with this book. Interesting, clear, concise, wonderfully illustrated.

Very Entertaining and Informative!
We thoroughly enjoyed this book during our unit study of the Vikings. I read the whole book aloud to my 8yo daughter and 5yo son over the course of several days. They found it fascinating and so did I. It is written in such a way that it is *very* complete and encompasses a HUGE amount of information on the vikings, yet it is also still very accessible and quite enjoyable. The ...

Clever Fat Cat is a Charmer!
My 2 year old daughter loves this book! She has memorized it and can "read" it to herself! Fat Cat finds himself in a tree and becomes responsible for the eggs in a birds' nest. Fat Cat's friends want him to play but he declines as he is helping the little birdies hatch from the eggs. It teaches a a very timely lesson of accepting responsibility for your actions. This is not a lift-a-flap ...

An excellent historical guide for young readers.
This educational, informative and handsomely illustrated book, from the Usborne Illustrated World History series, is an excellent visual reference for young readers. It offers an in-depth look at Roman civilization, from the founding of the city of Rome to the decline and fall of the empire to the birth and evolution of Constantinople and the city of Byzantium. Topics such as history, sociology, ...

Great mystery-solving fun for elementary-age kids
The story is about two kids who accidentally fall back in time and mix it up with some pirates and find buried treasure, but who cares? The real fun is the comic-book style pictures/words and the puzzles--jumbled words, picture clues, double-entendre poems--that the reader must solve every couple of pages in order to proceed. One of the best features, that I rarely see in other mystery/puzzle ...

An Excellent Usbourne Spinechiller
When at primary school, my class and I loved the Usbourne Puzzle books, spending hours pouring over them, trying to figure out the mysteries that they held - and the spookier they were, the better! Usbourne no doubt caught onto this popularity, and released the Usbourne Spinechillers, a series of six that delved into the world of ghosts and past mysteries. Among them was "Ghost Train to Nowhere", ...

Love the Phonics Readers
We are big fans of the Usborne Phonics Readers series. They are perfect for beginning readers. We have the entire series and lend them to friends and neighbors whose children are learning English. I read them to my 3 year old but my 6 year old reads them herself. Of all the books in the series, Hen's Pens is my favorite. She is such a busy little hen and the results of her artistic efforts ...

great book
My 20 month old granddaughter loves "birdies." This book was a hit with her. She loved to find the pictured bird on each page and excitedly turned the pages to find the next one. The board book pages are just right for her age, as well. Any preschooler would like it.

Who Stole the Black Diamond?
This is a great book! Each page is a color photograph with clues that help you solve the mystery. It will take you a while because it is challenging but after you think you know who did it look in the back of the book and see if you're right.

teddyland-spot the differences
This book is very colorfully photographed. Every page shows teddy bears in different settings. My daughter, who is three, loves to find the ten differences in the different scenes. It is fun for her to see pages after pages of adorable teddy bears on trains, on beaches, in classrooms, etc. and it trains her eyes to notice differences. This book is a part of her bedtime routine.

17 month old Pip thinks this is the best "Find it" book.
This book is very good because I get to point, clap and meow a lot. My grandma always laughs and acts surprised when I find the kitten, but I don't know why, because it really wasn't so very hard after the first time. Since there aren't any words, we get to talk about the cute pictures. I call the cat Edgar because that is my cat's name. We had so much fun Grandma bought me four more books in ...

New version is great
This is a more sturdy version than the previous version. Adding words is great. And it doesn't mean that you have to read the words when going through this book. We have all adlibbed, haven't we? It can be just a search book or a read to them book. Use it any way you want. It's great. It's bright, colorful, and holds up to baby's use. There are so many things to talk in this book. A great ...

A two year olds favorite!
My little guy loves to feel the textured items on each page. He is fascinated by the thistles. He rec'd this book on his first birthday and it has held up extremely well over the last year. The story is not the main draw here- It is very simple. The pictures are sweet and gentle. The fun is touching different items with different textures. IF your little one likes Pat the Bunny- they will enjoy ...
