Fitting ending to a great series of books
A Darkling Plain is the fourth, and final, book in the wonderful "Hungry City Chronicles." Beginning with Mortal Engines, the world that Mr. Reeve has created is one of the best in the young adult science fiction that I have read. Period. The story takes place hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years after the 60 Minute War where humans unleashed every known weapon on themselves (biological, ...

Loved It, Wonderfully Imaginative As Well As Amusing
I originally borrowed this book from the library to read aloud to my, now six year old, daughter and I have to tell you the truth, I took it back with out reading it. It was too much for me, I couldn't do the accents right and the lingo and speech patterns were just too much for my brain that day. So, I borrowed the audio book and let Greg Steinbruner read it to her instead. Which was ...

Great book!
I ordered this and another from the UK after hearing about it from some homeschooling groups. These books are an excellent way to teach math skills in a fun way. My kids love flipping through the pages to find new "tricks" without even realizing they are learning math. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to keep their children interested in learning math without constant drilling ...

Funny and Informative
There has been some criticism of the Horrible Histories as misinformed and simplistic, but this particular volume is wonderful. I've studied the Aztecs by looking at the Florentine Codex and reading scholarly works on the subject, and the "Angry Aztecs" gets quite a lot of the information right. It is written so kids can understand it, but anyone with a sense of humor should enjoy it. It is ...

Mobile Cities - A Great Way to Go On Vacation
For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what year it was supposed to be. Somewhere around the Year 5000. Way back in the 21st or 22nd Century, we had pretty much annihilated ourselves in the 60 Second War. Some centuries later, the technologically challenged offspring survivors have managed to mobilize their cities, thank Quirke (humankind's savior). There's an orphan boy who idolizes the ...

My Favorite Cookbook!
I moved away from SF last year and am quite happy to get a taste of Cha Cha Cha through this cookbook! No, it's not a perfect substitute for the restaurant, but with a little practice the recipes aren't difficult. And the sangria recipe is the best I've ever tasted!

good book to explain math to junior high kids
I am a math teacher and I bought this book on a whim, hoping it would be good for my students. It is very well written and easy to understand. The math is clear and accessable. I can wait to see what my students think.

A very great book!
Mortal Engines was a great book to read. Children will love it. Anna Fang was one of my favourite characters. She was brave and daring, and tried to do whatever she could for the Anti-Traction league. Hester's story is sad. Tom is scared and brave at the same time. They all have lots of adventures and the sequels get even better.

Peace and quiet at last in Anchorage-in-Vineland. Tom and Hester were able to bring up their only daughter, Wren, in relatively safe homeland. Unexpected delight
Picked this book up at the airport and read it over a long trip from the UK to Australia. What a masterpiece! Original, brilliantly conceived and executed new take on the Arthurian legend. Can't wait to find out what else Philip Reeve has to offer.

Great Book
This is the best introductory accounting book I've ever seen. I've been fortunate to attend the university where the authors teach, and have studied accounting under both Stice and Swain. The book is very clear, without the instructor's explanation (and the instructors are funny as heck and absolutely know the material) and I recommend it to anyone.

Seller cancelled order
I purchased this book for a course I am taking. I emailed the seller to inform him/her of my desire to receive the book quickly. The seller didn't respond. Then, I emailed the seller two more times--still no response. By this time, 10 days had elapsed. I finally got notification from Amazon that the seller had canceled the order. I thought this was bad business. I guess the seller figured ...
