It's just ok, but not great
I've had other algebra textbooks and this algebra book doesn't do a great job at explaining solutions to problems. If you have a basic knowledge of algebra, it's ok, but if you need some additonal help, it's not that helpful. I HAD to buy this particular book for an algebra class.

Great Book

It is a textbook after all...
I was using the 3rd edition for my elementary algebra class but switched to this textbook for my intermediate algebra class. It is definitely more concise and the explanations are clearer than in the previous edition. Concepts are easier to grasp in this edition. So just based on content, its a good textbook although why anyone would want to buy it just for fun is beside me.

The text book received was fine, however, there should also have been an access code (or card) provided with this sale in order for my son to access his teacher's assignments on-line. The access code/card is provided when the book is purchased in the bookstore, therefore, it should have been provided with the Amazon sale.

Where's the Errata
The content of the book is ok. But if you are unfamiliar with the subject and need the answers in the back of the book to check your work, you will just end up frustrated and confused. So far I estimate 30% of the answers in the back of the book are wrong and there is no errata listed for the book from the publisher.

Great book!
This is a terrific college basic mathematics book. The book is very well laid out, easy to read and learn from. I tried to get this book at my college but they didn't have any. So I turned to amazon.com and sure they had it, thank you amazon!
