Hiking Along The Parkway? This Is The Guide To Buy
As someone who lives near and regularly hikes trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway, I commend Randy Johnson's excellent "Hiking The Blue Ridge Parkway." First, I love the author's dedication . . . To past and present Appalachian families - the people who know how much you have to love the mountains to make a living there. And to the men and women of the Blue Ridge Parkway - who help the rest of ...

From Ran what do you expect?
A great all around book with a great story and great pictures. I really enjoyed reading this book because it showed techiques about pitching. Johnson gives great stratagies on pitching and life. The book sheds light on some of Johnson's other talents such as basketball and takes us into a world where Johnson's erradic pitching gets transformed into fine techique. I also liked the way Nolan Ryan ...

This is an excellent book that has proven to be very helpful for us in planning day hikes along the Parkway. The descriptions, level of difficulty, maps, milepost numbers, distance, etc. are all accurate and just what you need to gauge what type of hike you wish to plan. The historical facts and stories are an added interesting bonus.

for more than just hikers, this book is for anyone who moves around at all!
I am the editor of a newspaper in North Carolina and I write a monthly travel column. I picked up a handful of North Carolina travel guides to review, and this one happened to be in my stack. I have to say -- I had high expectations for this book. A quote from CNN.com is printed on the back. Falcon Guides are, "written by top experts and enthusiasts." It's an official American Hiking Society ...

Excellent Personal History of a Little Explored Event
This is a very personal history as the author takes personal interest in the Lt. Kidder massacre that occurred to a platoon of soldiers carrying a dispatch from General Sherman to Custer. This was during the 1867 Kansas Indian war during the military's unsuccessful campaign to defeat the various tribes. Earlier references to Kidder stated that the young inexperienced officer was unfamiliar with ...

Water Sources???
I chuckled at Icapote's review of this book. Duh- if you want an index to water sources on the Appalchian Trail, then buy the Appalachian Trail Guides for heaven's sake! This book does not list all the state's trails or water sources, but it is an inexpensive overview of the state's best trails. It's been really useful and informative for me.

Outrageous, irreverent fun!
PAIN AND OTHER PETTY PLOTS TO KEP YOU IN STITCHES is an amazing, visually delicious book. The authors and artist have created a wildly eccentric universe where bizarre is normal. Only with creativity freewheeling at its fastest could these images and stories emerge.

What You Don't Know Will Hurt You!
Having purchased two previous homes, I thought I knew all there is to know: you call up a realtor who takes you around to see houses and you pick from a 30-year or a 15-year fixed rate mortgage. Wow! Was I wrong! Thanks to Randy Johnson's latest book on using the internet to find a home and get a mortgage, I now know that there are many types of mortgages available, many of them better- ...

It's an okay book.
This is a not so good book, but our school uses it. I suggest the author to update some of the contents of the book.
